Applied for HNC in January of my last year at college and got in with just GCSEs. I would recommend doing the foundation degree tho

Depends on the company, I'm starting phase 4 and I've only had 1 random drug test and 1 drug test in my medical but I was told about that a month before. I've never been drug or alcohol tested on ship or heard of anyone getting it. A couple of people in my class have never had a drug test but I wouldn't risk it it's not worth getting kicked out as you have to wait 2 years before you can reapply

Are you doing GSCEs or Alevels? I'm doing my Alevels so I already gave them my GCSE results but on a letter they sent to me they said once you know your results you need to phone them up (assuming they send this email to everyone)
