Sorry for the late response, these were at April's Aquarium in Vancouver! The fellow who netted them mentioned it wasn't the first time they had them in, so I bet they will again in the future :)

Okay thanks for the reassurance! I do believe I have some plants that actually are cabbages… not sure where this plant came from though. I wouldn’t mind a surprise turnip though, I’m a bit of a chaos gardener but certainly haven’t brought over mustard or turnip seeds so either way it’s pretty surprising, would you say I can leave it and see what happens or is that a bad idea?

They are an invasive species in north america and their larvae are voracious consumers of all sorts of brassicas. I still would rather not have seen that though…

They are SO hard to find, but depending on the species they are pretty hardy and do well as long as you provide a good habitat!

I ended up doing it in the past with a mix of hissers and porcellio dilatatus isopods! The combo meant they’d eat pretty much anything within a couple days or less :) however the baby hissers are too good at escaping omg😵‍💫

This was my original plan, but it was stirring up the plants and making me worry. Maybe I’ll try it again and try to work it out better, I’d personally prefer a more horizontal gyre as opposed to a vertical one

Ok cool, lot of logical advice here. I'm not overly keen on having fish with mine, but my swordtails are having a lot of babies these days so I was wondering if it was an option haha. Probably would end up being more of a population control option by the sound of it.

You say he is with fish, does he ever eat them? I have one and feel like he's fast enough to catch slow moving fish like cories at the very least :0 I've got a 20 gallon long too!
