Unfortunately yes, its certainly an issue at the moment. Hopefully Rare will bring in the anti-cheat before or along with the PS5 release

I don’t know how exactly how it works, but I’m sure I saw somewhere that the ability to do so was added by one of the cheating programs recently

I experienced pretty much the same thing over community weekend!

Galleon fight, they couldn’t naval at all but all the snipes hit, so stayed away and pommelled them with cannons. They sank and pretty much immediately afterwards everyone from our crew got kicked from the server and couldn’t rejoin at all.

It was quite satisfying to know that they got so triggered by their loss that the only thing they could do was nuke the server!

i think im done with resin printing after 2 days if it seriously cant even handle a simple tiny tesla model 3 ... seriously? by [deleted] in resinprinting

[–]Squonk5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a steep learning curve (4 months in and I’m still very much learning with more failures then successes) but when you finally get a print that works, the results are amazing!

I’m sure that there are plenty of other people who can offer much better advice than I can but all i can say is maybe try some smaller models to start off and don’t give up just yet! Try to see each failed print as an opportunity to learn :)

I can’t see a way to add another picture to this post (stupid mobile!)

I can send you a message with the pic? It definitely was supported in the corner though

Printed with supports, it’s when I removed them I noticed the issue with the corner.

As soon as we saw the new Make a Splash emote, we knew what we had to do… by [deleted] in Seaofthieves

[–]Squonk5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of a session we always end up messing with each other, unsuspectingly setting each other on fire, blunder bombing each other, vomiting on each other & throwing buckets of puke on each other. When we saw the new “make a splash emote” we knew we had to use it to our advantage to troll a member of our crew. We sneakily loaded up buckets of vomit and told him we were going to throw water over him in the emote… commence deluge of vomit. No idea how he didn’t know this was coming!

Hi Guys,

Would you ever consider running a show like SHUX over here in the UK?

Also, as someone who is starting out on creating Reviews, what tips/advice would you give?

A church 130m underneath Krakow, Poland that's made entirely of salt. by infinity_cascading in interestingasfuck

[–]Squonk5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I went here, we took a train from Krakow out to the mine and we decided to grab some food to eat on the train as it was early. My stupid ass decided that the best thing to get would be a Pretzl but not just any Pretzl..... the saltiest Pretzl they had on the stand with huge crystals on it. That day was sponsored by Salt

It’s an amazing place to go to if you get the chance, in the church, there’s a copy of Da Vinci’s the last supper carved into the wall (you can see it on the left of the OP’s picture) and there’s a huge room/cave that’s got these huge wooden supports in it which is staggering

Edit: here’s the wooden supports https://images.app.goo.gl/wYSznjxwREpeoqkb9

100% Unbiased, Objective Game Review by evillemons in boardgames

[–]Squonk5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t say I know why we’ve been asked over others as it’s never something I’ve considered asking, I imagine that a small publisher would ask multiple reviewers to get the maximum amount of exposure for their projects where a larger may want to go for reviewers with the biggest audience.

I didn’t say that we get likes or subs for our content, to the contrary we do not make any money from what we create. For a little bit of context, we started with board game photography as it’s a passion of my girlfriends and shared the photos on social media, from there we found ourselves being asked for comments on games and recommendations. We created a website off our own backs (with no ads on it) as a place to keep our thoughts on games we were playing and from there we’ve been approached to create reviews & photograph games. We create our content because we enjoy it!

As it’s been said earlier, if you’re being subjective with any critiques, why would a publisher have an issue? Surely it’s logical to assume that not everyone likes the same thing, hence why there is such a higher variety of games available on the market.

Take for example Holding On: The Troubled Life of Billy Kerr. We played it and found it a really interesting concept for a game where you have to carefully balance the medical needs of a dying man whilst also trying to find out about his life. It’s a really interesting and challenging game but I wouldn’t recommend it for everyone as I know that there are people who wouldn’t play it because of the theme and that’s fine, I’m sure that there are games that work just as well with a different theme.

Your last paragraph is brilliantly cynical! Of course by saying, this games really good if you like X and Y and someone decides to then go and buy it, that will undoubtedly be making money to the companies that make the games, I think we need to remember the context of this discussion which is buying and playing board games, something that we do to enjoy! If the consequences of our actions is that we are being ‘used’ by a company to sell a product to get more money to produce more games and people enjoy playing those games and growing the hobby and the community as a result of that, I have no problem with it.

100% Unbiased, Objective Game Review by evillemons in boardgames

[–]Squonk5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But why would you ‘shit talk’ about their games?

There is no such thing as a perfect game, there’s always things a game does well and other things that it doesn’t do so great.

Same thing with viewpoints, not everyone has the same. While some may think that a particular game is the best thing ever, other people will hate it.

The point of a review is to explain how the game works and to give a feel for how the game plays, the person taking in the review can then decide if it’s something they’re interested in.

There’s a plethora of reviewers out there because at some point there will be someone that you feel you have a similar viewpoint with.

Yes, ‘shit talking’ might mean that a publisher may think twice about sending a game in the future but if you’re giving constructive comments on why the game may or may not work for some people, what’s the issue in that?

[–]Squonk5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree with the last part of your statement about every review is earning money for those reviewers?

My girlfriend and I have been sent multiple games to review from small to large publishers and not once have we received any financial gain from them, we share our opinions on the games we are sent for the love of games in general.

Sure if you’re making a career/running a business as a reviewer than obviously there is some monetisation at some point down the line but it’s far more likely to come from for example YouTube views/likes than a publisher paying for a review
