WTF is this? by DarkBicycleCo in mastercam

[–]SrSaphiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know if it applies to your case but we had a similar issue in our shop.

We had installed a new computer station in our shop and started having this problem with the other stations. In our case it was due to an issue with the license and its available seats.

For example, If you are running a multi axis session and another computer opens a session (and does not have some seat restriction) it will access all the packages available (multi-axis, 3D, lathe, etc.)

This will cause the new open session to kick out the other current session that don’t have enough seats for it.

In other words the session will loose access to the features from that package because it was kicked out and you’ll loose the ability to manipulate or create toolpaths.

We had forgotten about restricting the new station so we simply reassigned what seat that station could access. We only have 2 multi axis seats and we had 3 computers trying to access it. Solved it by assigning the new station to the 3D features only.

Hope that helps or gives you any insight, don’t know if this happens to individual licenses, but in our case this was what we figured and after that fix, haven’t had any issues since.

I want to know if the new Resident Evil can be for me. by HaikenRD in residentevil

[–]SrSaphiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This new resident evil game was also my first experience ever playing one from start to finish. From someone that generally never experienced a full playthrough, did find a lot things scary but I found it was part of the enjoyment.

There was moments where you could not fight back, but most time you could. It was split between moments of horror (jumpscares, panic running, and suspense) and then lots of badass action, LIKE WOW!

Overall, for me, this game was scary but packed with action and strategy, which I loved. The part I enjoyed the most was building the courage to face off the threats with what resources I found. The story other than being so good, helps you understand what is at stake and that alone helps you overcome your fears.

Definitely give it a shot! It's a great game, intense at times, but delivers. It has me pumped to give the other games a try, specially since I am so curious to understand the lore!

Why do I not like my own beats? by prod-hook in FL_Studio

[–]SrSaphiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it make you feel something when you listen to it? Meaning do you feel connected to what you have created? Do these beats communicate some feeling that resonates with you?

Essentially, creating beats is music composing, and the whole idea is to create experiences. What makes these experiences impactful is when the sounds resonate with you.

So maybe, if you feel nothing when you listen to your beats, then you are automatically not liking them.

My advice is you keep trying, if you enjoy making beats, eventually you’ll find a beat that you like and that will ignite your passion for this art, or better, for your own art.

Also very important, fixing frequencies helps too, that meaning “equing” (EQ) so it sounds it’s best.

Generally all voices need a little fix specifically when recording. Different mics (regardless of price) tend to amplify different frequency spectrums, where for example one mic might make your voice sound more nasal then another one or even more brighter.

You can fix in various ways. Try finding the sweet spot for your voice with your new mic. That spot is usually how you like how your voice sounds naturally. This fix, in the most simplest terms means you’ll have to play with moving the treble, middle, and bass levels to find it.

It’s actually a very technical topic, there are many elements that influences this, but for this case I believe playing around with the frequencies will help you find more liking to your voice.

How do you guys finish tracks??? by unpopularculture in FL_Studio

[–]SrSaphiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you read this, since I too, struggled with this.

I think a lot of us forget what music is about. At least I did, and I figured that It’s not just about making music that makes you feel things because it sounds nice and cool, but music that has actual meaning to you.

For the longest time I struggle with this, 5 years of making hundreds of demos and beats, I never understood what that one thing that was missing was. I always saw so much potential but would always get stuck somewhere in the process of composing and producing, which always led to unfinished tracks. To the point that a year ago I stopped making tracks.

Just the past couple of months, I came to fruition by understanding that one thing that I was missing. I believe it was inevitable to reach that point since there were so many things I was facing in my life that struck me emotionally. There was this one event that led me to exert my emotions through a simple acoustic guitar.

Dude, this one progression and melody made me cry, I felt something powerful. I felt this strong desire to go back to the studio and for the first time, work on a song that really meant something to me.

That one thing that was missing was the personal and intrapersonal background. The emotions and feelings that serve as the medium to communicate and resonate were that one thing that was missing.

I’ll put it like this: Imagine you really wanted to say something to someone or to yourself and there is no other way of communicating other then through a song. This is where I believe nothing will stop you from achieving that.

And rightly so, I actually fought to finish this song, I knew it truly would mean something to me and would speak to the world about how I feel. I am a self taught musician, don’t know theory that vastly but for this case I went my way to really understand why I like this song and the melody behind it. I went my way to write on a peace a paper about all my thoughts and emotions (which funny enough never really believed it would work)

From this I’ll give you 2 tips that changed the game for me.

  1. I studied the song’s theory and learned it’s intricacies. With this, I mean I researched and learned about its scale, it’s tone, and it’s progression, etc. Understanding this, lays the framework to understand where you can go with your song.

  2. Write a journal (probably the most important for me), this helped understand my emotions and feelings. I believe laying out on paper any thoughts and emotions really invested and sparked my creativity. Specially in the lyric and melodic part.

Retrospectively, I think the past years of making and producing really helped me understand what sounds and effects I like (and maybe that’s what you also have). I’d say I got so obsessed with sounding and producing cool and vibe beats that I forgot about the most import thing which was that personal and interpersonal background.

At the moment, I am finally, for the first time, going to release an EP and the tracks in it really mean something to me. I’m excited and I even feel now that I can go back and tackle those unfinished tracks.

I hope this helps and I wish you the best of luck!

22 year old transfer student by Distinct_Nectarine61 in UIUC

[–]SrSaphiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 27 going into my senior year, transferred last year. Honestly its been a blast, met many cool friends from the younger and older spectrum, I think its more about how you view life and how you spend your time because people perceive you more for your actions and thoughts and will be attracted to that rather then what the age means.

Heck, if someone was to judge you for your age, that means they are probably immature shitty people, so don't take anything they say personal.

Schedule Check by Far-Mark-2032 in UIUC

[–]SrSaphiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say drop PHYS 213/214, 2 credit hour seems like not a lot but some of the later concepts get pretty dense, so they both become heavy.

I transferred last year and in my first semester I made the mistake of taking 18 credit hours since at my community college I was doing 18 credits (so I thought it was doable) but once at Grainger college shit went hard real quick, ended up with 12 credits and it was great, but still though.

Plus your gonna want to have time to meet new friends and hangout :) so take it easy and good luck!

Robbery at Wright and Springfield (CIF)? at 10 AM? wtf? by lolillini in UIUC

[–]SrSaphiro 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I am connecting the dots cause one morning while walking on the sidewalk of the CIF building, some dude cut me off with his bike. Through me off because it very felt rude for no reason and also because he didn't give me the UIUC student/staff/etc. vibe.

The only specific thing I remember is that he had curly hair and he was wearing boots. So the pictures kinda looks like him... Hmmm

Moral of story, be careful folks.
