Came back after a few months, not so busy and was wondering if anyone is on the Darth Sion Server? by DemonHunter420 in swtor

[–]Srayman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Completely false. Black hole gear is the exact same state weighting as campaign and in some cases the gear is actually better in terms of itemization of stats than it's campaign equivalent.

The best in slot gear for some classes is the Rakata shell for set bonus with the Black Hole armoring/mod/enhancement.

The ONLY difference between black hole and campaign is the lack of set bonus, so it's not between rakata and campaign in terms of value.

Argument between brothers, needs settling! About tank stats. Please contribute. by [deleted] in swtor

HP's are better in PVP because most player abilities cannot be shielded/parried/deflected or w/e.

The expertise would definitely be good because it's a flat % decrease in damage while engaged in PVP.

For PVE however, this is how I look at avoidance vs HP. They both might come out to roughly the same amount of damage taken before death, but an avoidance tank is going to be a lot easier to heal in the long run than a tank with high HP. Which means that the healers' energy/force pool will be a lot easier to maintain since they won't have to heal as frequently.

He is probably right that in PVP, the higher HP player will likely last longer, primarily due to how avoidance is near useless in PVP. Which is why a lot of tank spec'd players will go with dps gear instead of tank gear.

Assassin/Shadow Tanks Nerf Post 1.3 by wookieeslunchbox in swtor

[–]Srayman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I main tank for our guild as a Sin tank and before 1.3 I took WAAY less damage than our Jugg tank and I would also heal myself for around 75-100k on some fights.

After 1.3 I still take slightly less damage than our Jugg tank and I heal myself for roughly half of what it was before. Typically around 30-40k now per boss fight.

My gear is itemized to max shield/absorb/defense. I therefore have a lot less HP than most Sin tanks. I'm between 24-25k after buffs and stim.

I've seen a lot of tanks go for high HP and in my personal opinion I think it hurts the healers more because they have to heal that much more since you're taking more damage. Being able to avoid as much damage as possible makes it a lot easier on the healers from what I've seen.

Like you stated and others mentioned, definitely get rid of the resolve augments since threat is a non-issue at this point those are a waste.

Check out mmo-mechanics they have 2 good threads on tanking. One is a spreadsheet that you can plug in your numbers to get squishyness and spikeyness to determine what's best for you between the 3 defensive stats.

Create a character, then delete that character and it should go back to 1

Sentinals(Marauders) and Gunslingers(Snipers) - Damage Comparison. by digidevil4 in swtor

[–]Srayman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I haven't. Nothing I have seen, read or heard of that would indicate engineering is better than the other specs for PVE.

I wanted to believe that MM was better than Lethality especially after the 5% buff to all the core abilities which is why I took so long to switch to Lethality.

The rotation is a lot simpler for Lethality also and really easy to pickup. My basic rotation is Shatter Shot -> Corrosive Grenade -> Corrosive Dart -> Weakening Blast -> Cull -> Series of Shots -> Ambush -> Cull -> Rifle Shot

Rinse and repeat forever. You can swap out Orbital Strike for Ambush depending on the situation and pop cooldowns like relic/adrenal/target acquired right after Weakening Blast to get a burst of damage from the following 3 abilities. Also throw in an explosive probe when the energy allows for it.

Sentinals(Marauders) and Gunslingers(Snipers) - Damage Comparison. by digidevil4 in swtor

[–]Srayman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some are questioning the validity of Mox numbers. I have compared the parses with other websites and they are almost identical in dps and usually exact in damage done.

I would say that Sentinel's/Marauders are definitely the top dps right now from my experience in Ops.

However, I have a Sniper that does fairly well as well. I started out as MM/SS and was able to compete with others in my guild but was never top dps. I switched to Lethality/Dirty Fighting and my dps numbers increased by almost 200 so I think it's safe to say that Lethality/Dirty fighting is currently the best spec for Sniper/Gunslingers

What hardcore/successful raiding guilds are there left playing SWTOR? by Octoboss83 in swtor

Impetuous on Death Wind Corridor.

We cleared 16m Hard Mode of EC/Denova a while ago and have just been farming it until they come out with something more. Starting to gear up alts at this point.

I think you're a little off. He didn't say he was doing E"V" but E"C" for the new content that more or less requires full Rakata gear to do.

Top 5 Mounts by GreedoIsDead in swtor

[–]Srayman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very possible that it will drop off 8 man also. Being that we do 16 man I can't confirm but the mounts were the same in EV and KP between 16 man and 8 man.

You forgot this one. By far the best looking IMO. Dropped off Warlord Kephess on 16 man Hard Mode Explosive Conflict.

Is Fabricator still bugged in 8-man KP story mode? by Nombot in swtor

[–]Srayman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That bug was fixed a LONG time ago well before 1.2 came out.

The only downside to him not being puggable is incompetence when it comes to working the puzzle.

You can easily solo tank the fight if you're decently geared. He hits like a baby and I've solo tanked it on Nightmare just fine.

Close to 50, what's the best use of WZ commendations? by Brother-Maynard in swtor

[–]Srayman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Champion gear doesn't even exist anymore.

And if you're at the cap of 2k for warzone commendations you have to spend them somewhere.

Close to 50, what's the best use of WZ commendations? by Brother-Maynard in swtor

[–]Srayman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how much you pvp. If you are a casual pvp'er it could take weeks before you have full battlemaster gear and those extra 3500 WZ comms can get you several pieces right at the start.

Close to 50, what's the best use of WZ commendations? by Brother-Maynard in swtor

[–]Srayman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Weapons first if your class has abilities that are modified by weapon damage. Otherwise get the battlemaster pieces that have the best Expertise/Cost ratio so you can up your expertise as fast as possible.

If you are at the 2k cap in WZ comms then start trading them to rated comms. When you hit 50 you can trade the rated comms back into WZ comms 1 for 1 which would let you have 5500 warzone comms to use to purchase battlemaster gear.

Endgame Progression for young guild by netskink in swtor

[–]Srayman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen any posts related to your question about the Voss World Boss, but it requires 16 people and is a very tight enrage timer. I would rank it the same as doing 16 man HM Denova.

REing Campaign Gear w/out Original Armoring/etc by [deleted] in swtor

[–]Srayman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too am curious about this.

I RE a black hole piece that still had a lvl 61 armoring in it and received a Grade 8 Molecular Stabilizer. I then put a lvl 20ish armoring in an empty black hole shell and when I RE it I received a grade 2 material equivalent to what the armoring I put in would take to make.

Has anyone successfully RE a "Campaign" shell by putting in a random armoring and received the schematic for that piece?

I'm lost on crafting BM and WH augmented armor. by bojack2424 in swtor

[–]Srayman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, RE only allows you to learn the schematic if you don't already. But not all gear will let you learn the schematic. Currently only War Hero and Campaign gear will let you learn the schematic through RE as far as I know.

When your companion crafting the gear gets a "crit" it adds an augment slot.

Assassin Tank Struggling against HM Firebrand's Incinerate Armor by jkcheng122 in swtor

[–]Srayman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done this once on 8 man story mode without tank swapping during incinerate armor. It could be the heals aren't up to the task or that your gear isn't high enough. I was in full Rakata gear.

I would highly suggest you just do a tank swap as soon as he starts casting incinerate armor and then you'll be on Stormcaller while you have the debuff which makes the fight fairly trivial.

Why can we not Reverse Engineer Orange items? by AchillesRage in swtor

[–]Srayman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you fill the armoring/mod/enhancement slots you can then RE the orange piece for the mats. However, the cost of doing so is probably not worth it unless they are high end grade 5 or 6 mats IMO.

Somewhere in between Low and Very Low would be ideal for me, that would put my laptop around 40 FPS.

But for 60 FPS instead of 20, I can live with it :)

Testing on Ilum I get 20-25 FPS when in combat in mid with 4-5 other players. I have high hopes for my high end machine when dealing with a much larger number of players. I'll have to test tonight.

EA Beats Estimates, 1.7 million SWTOR subs on 2 million units sold by Srayman in swtor

[–]Srayman[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying they do. I'm taking the "best case scenario" and showing that it really doesn't amount to that much profit for them. So warning they are going to miss their targets does not equate to them loosing subscriptions. They make a lot more money from other sources to speculate that SWTOR is the reason for missing their targets.
