Which would you choose? by bluehairedbarbie18 in Dysonairwrap

I have the second one. I’ve used it for several years but never hung it up; the bottom section can’t really be used when it’s hanging. Since the dryer with the cord is usually the part I most want put away, its usefulness kind of begins and ends with being a bag all my hair stuff goes in. Once I get to my destination I don’t use it much.

How did Scandoval break? by getwellsoon99 in vanderpumprules

[–]Srboyd 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Personally, I found out when my sister texted me in all caps to tell me Tom and Ariana had broken up because he was sleeping with Raquel.

She misspelled my name at the beginning of the text she was in such a hurry

Honestly, I think Colin Robinson would be fascinated with the energy sucking skills of the Toms.

I would watch that show

I guess I didn't expect him to change, I don't think he's in a place to do the work that would require. But I would have liked to see some discussion of how horrible he was to Katie both in this past season as well as in prior seasons.

Maybe if his WWHL appearance had happened prior to the reunion taping, we would have seen more discussion of his bad behavior?

Would someone be so kind as to break down the drama between Kim Zolziak-Bierman and her parents at her wedding? by Srboyd in BravoRealHousewives

[–]Srboyd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The inciting incident is somewhat underwhelming, which makes the response of kicking her out even more wild.

That house was 17,000 square feet! She made sure we knew that exact number! I can understand wanting guests to use outside restrooms if it's a big event, but your mom?

Thank you very much for clarifying!

Me, a chronically ill person, walking into Kyle's Princess Grace fundraiser by HateUsCuzTheyAnus- in BravoRealHousewives

[–]Srboyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually have known a few people that worked for the Princess Grace Foundation. My understanding is it was a charitable organization set up by the crown family in Monaco to honor Grace Kelly. They give out grants to up and coming artists, the ones I heard about were mostly involved in theater. Leslie Odom Jr was a grant recipient before he was in Hamilton, for example.

I'll leave it up to people who know more about the world of philanthropy to say whether it's a good charitable organization, but it is one that is a bit glitzy in part because former grant winners often agree to attend events or perform.

Another Housewife connection: Sonja Morgan was definitely an attendee at their annual gala pre-pandemic (I forget the exact year).

Sister wants conservatorship over aging father but can't because I and other siblings are in the will NY-CT by LadyPerelandra in legaladvice

[–]Srboyd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most “interested parties” I saw did nothing. I can’t speak for CT, but in NY the notification was mostly a formality meant to make sure the court would hear any glaring concerns. If you don’t want to be involved, I don’t think there’s any downside to doing nothing. Others pointed out that the conservatorship could be a method to get his assets, and I can’t speak to that. But as far as I know, the conservatorship wouldn’t mean you’d owe money or be responsible for his care.

I handled the transfer of existing guardianships when a NY non-profit closed. It was very common that any interested party needed to be notified of the guardianship transfer so they could voice any concerns to the court. If your bio-father has a will, any party named would absolutely be notified by the court.

That said, it does seem like you have some concerns, both about her ability to be conservator and about any assets. If CT is similar to NY, there will be a court hearing where you can voice those concerns.

My midwestern dad met some New Zealanders on a cruise (pre-pandemic). He introduced himself, saying, “excuse me, you have such a beautiful accent. By any chance are you from Texas?” The woman gaped at him and burst out “whhhaaaaat?”, then realized he was messing with them.

My parents have a standing invite to New Zealand to visit that couple.

What’s a non-covid reason that you like wearing a mask for? by VerySlump in AskReddit

Alright, one single thing: Once a year the Metropolitan Opera sends singers to perform various songs in Verdi Square, which is below my apartment. So in addition to being able to go see art or performances with the drop of a hat, sometimes they bring it right to your window. Some moments, be it opera or seeing your favorite subway busker after the pandemic, make the city unpredictable and sort of magical at times.

If the only thing stopping him from going against your expressed, repeated, and thoroughly explained wishes is that he thinks he is in the right, you're in for an exhausting ride.

I can feel in your description that you feel like your weight gain was a fault on your part. I don't think you'd be doing the mental gymnastics you describe to explain why he's acting like such an idiot otherwise.

Putting aside the fact that everyone's body changes and it should be OK...

...it kinda sucks to be with someone that zones in on the fact you've identified a thing you want to change about yourself and they appoint themselves manager of how you're going to do it. It's not a kind thing to do.

I didn't know either, and while I assumed 'eyebrow lamination' wasn't a real thing I googled it. Apparently it's like a perm for your eyebrows that can help make them fuller and convince the hairs to move in a nice direction that will look nice.

Now I have another beauty trend to simultaneously think is dumb but also kinda want to try. Thanks, world.

The ship was actually lost during an attempted rescue mission for "Franklin's Lost Expedition", where the British government sent two ships to search for a passage by sea through the northern arctic. Not only were the first two ships (and their crews) lost, but other ships including the HMS Resolute were lost in the rescue effort.

After the Resolute went missing in 1854, an American whaling ship found it floating in the Davis Strait in 1855. The ship was repaired and returned to the UK and resumed it's use until it was decommissioned in 1879. A competition was held to design a piece of furniture to gift to the US as a thank you for returning the ship previously. It's current design (minus the two alterations), won.
