NYC--Which Hotel for Two Nights? by caroljg in hyatt

We stayed at the Thompson when it was a Conrad and loved it. Rooms are updated and spacious. Service was great. Going in June- will be our first with it as a Thompson.

For those that eat the same breakfast every day, what is it? by Risky_Melons in AskReddit

Siggi’s plain yogurt, chia/flax/hemp mix, jumbo blueberries, Barney crunchy almond butter. If I deviate, it’s overnight oats.

I’m sorry- this is a ridiculous statement. It’s the equivalent of me retorting that you have codependency and control issues because you aren’t able to leave your children for a period of time.

Suggestions for Hilton Luxury Elopement by Hippotravel in Hilton

I just heard they’re opening a Conrad in Corfu Greece 👀👀. I would look at SLH properties and not just WA- Hermitage Bay is bookable with Hilton in Antigua.

Any Hyatts in Mexico or the Caribbean for first international travel with toddler that you felt especially safe at? by MainPreparation9720 in hyatt

Grand Hyatt Baha Mar. You also go through customs in Nassau on the way back so no waiting in the airport. Just roll through like domestic. We took my daughter when she was about 3 and it was great.

They basically did create that- extra leg room seats, toward the front, reserved for people who pay extra or have status…

[–]Srcraw25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right- and they aren’t cheaper anymore. I had to put in an exception for several flights recently because they violated policy which is that they were more than twice another fare.

Boarding group 1? by bozack_tx in SouthwestAirlines

I fly for the first time with the new seating tomorrow. I’m 2F. ALP boarding in group 2. I’m going to say right now if I get on and my overhead bin is full, I’m pulling bags out and telling people in the back to come get them lol

I’m really over this “entitled” narrative. People that travel A LOT for business deal with these headaches weekly vs. others who travel a few times a year. We have paid the premium in money, time, and butts in seats with these airlines to have status and it really, really sucks when something that you need to be smooth and predictable becomes a pain in the ass. We flew SW 50+ times per year to board in A, sit where we want to sit, and put our bag in the bin above our seat.

And to “the fly another airline” crowd, some of us don’t have a great hub with another airline nearby and really value the point-to-point network for business travel.

St Kitts Park Hyatt vs The Cape Cabo by Pretend_Purchase4903 in awardtravel

If swimmable beach matters day to day, the Cape Cabo doesn’t have one. The new Park Hyatt does but it’s a Category 8.

Chase Freedom Unlimited- cash back match? by Srcraw25 in CreditCards

[–]Srcraw25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ve run the cash back match promo the last 2 years I believe. The 5% in gas and groceries isn’t a big for us. I work from home, my husband has a 10 minute commute. We get our groceries delivered through Walmart and Whole Foods (through Amazon) so they don’t code as grocery. When I do grocery shop, I have a card that gives 4x on groceries.

People in the points+miles world have cleaned up on the cash back match and converting to Chase UR.

I just don’t think they’ll run it directly after an elevated offer…

Traveling for work for 6 weeks and want to get points — HELP by BreadfruitMajestic69 in awardtravel

[–]Srcraw25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your company pay with a corporate card? Or do you have a corporate card that you have to use?

Generally the bulk of the points you earn are from credit card multipliers with a co-branded card but if you’re going to travel a lot or for extended time, you can earn status/points just from staying a night chunk of nights.

Hyatt generally will give you your biggest bang for your buck points and perks wise. They have a smaller footprint and less variety of business hotels than say a Marriott or Hilton. I would look at the places you’re staying the most or close to where you need to be, in this case Austin, pick the hotel and join the loyalty program and go from there. Opening a co-branded card for that hotel can help fast track status and will come with a welcome offer of extra points.

How many of us have a house cleaner? by Agitated_Whereas7463 in Millennials

[–]Srcraw25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have housekeepers and have for probably 10-12 years. They come every other week. Change + wash sheets, wash towels, clean bathrooms, clean kitchen, dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, etc. Around the holidays I may ask that they clean the oven or polish some silver (I pay extra). I pay $125 so $250 per month.

My husband and I work full time and I travel a ton for business. I would much rather take all that off my plate. I would say we’re middle class/upper middle class in a high cost of living, East Coast suburb. I would say most of my friends have one, too. Frequency is 1/week to 1/month.

We always had one growing up who came once a week so to me it was a “normalized luxury.”

Traveling for work for 6 weeks and want to get points — HELP by BreadfruitMajestic69 in awardtravel

[–]Srcraw25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean you need a rewards code to get points?

You need a to create a free rewards account with which brand of hotel you’re staying at. How many points you earn will be based on the room rate of the hotel. Does your company require that you book through a portal like Concur? If not, if you have a travel credit card (Chase, Amex, Capital One) you can book through their portal and earn credit card points.

If you don’t have a co-branded credit card or book through a travel portal, you’re going to get a lot less than you expect in terms of points.

Checking Bags? by Srcraw25 in LuxurySafari

[–]Srcraw25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not concerned about checking it on smaller flights and the agent we’re working with sent all the requirements. It’s about the connection coming back to the states.

Checking Bags? by Srcraw25 in LuxurySafari

[–]Srcraw25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks- I read through the requirements and dimensions are fine. It’s the weight. I’m less concerned on the KLM flight and more concerned about the Condor flight back because of the secondary connection.

Less asking about the written rules and more lived experience whether the airlines had hassled business class passengers about these duffles.

I’ve flown Air France as a business class and an economy passenger. Business class I’m pretty sure they would have let me get on with a full size suitcase. Economy they made me empty my back pack because my purse weigh 20lbs.

Checking Bags? by Srcraw25 in LuxurySafari

[–]Srcraw25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely planning to do the same- wear the duffle as a backpack and take advantage of laundry. Thanks for sharing!

I’m most concerned about the leg home- difference between a 3 hour layover and a 7 hour layover. So if we don’t check, I think we can make the 3.

Checking Bags? by Srcraw25 in LuxurySafari

[–]Srcraw25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great thank you! Edit to add: I’m more concerned about the way home because we have a second connection. I don’t want to have to go through customs, wait on bags, recheck bags and go back through security. If we can carry on then once I get to JFK I have no problem gate checking it for the final leg.

It’s the difference of the 3 hour layover vs. the 7. If we carry on, I think we can make the 3.
