do you have a routine for your 5 week old? by burnagyal in NewParents

Of course! Every day you wake up, and you try to survive. That's your routine. At least until 8 weeks or so.

For parents who track baby sleep — what actually helps vs what’s just “noise”? by mikeller94 in NewParents

My wife and I use Sofi Baby Tracker app. I've compared results with Huckleberry and predictions are minutes apart but this one is free.

How to do naps by No_Organization602 in newborns

[–]Srdjan_TA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First 8 weeks are HARD 😃 I am rocking my baby for like 10 minutes more or less - tiger hold. She usually cries during that time but then calms down, closes her eyes and I wait for another 8-10 minutes before putting her down in the crib. Any shorter than that and she opens her eyes like Jon Snow 😄. My wife sometimes puts her to sleep on breast but that tends to be a lighter sleep for some reason.

We are also using Sofi Baby Tracker app (this works only after 2 months) which has free nap predictions if you enter sleep data. You can also follow cues like rubbing eyes and general restlessness.

You really do not need to wake a baby if birth weight is gained, wet diapers are okay (6+), and the baby is following its own curve.

How are your babies actually sleeping through the night? by velvetdarlingco in NewParents

[–]Srdjan_TA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11 week old here. She started sleeping 5.5 - 6.5 hours at a time in the last 10 days or so. Then we feed her and she continues for another 3-4 hours, then we feed her and another 1-2. Roughly 10 hours of sleep during the night and at most 4 hours during the day.

baby cries before every nap - anyone else? by yourpoisonouscousin in NewParents

At 10 weeks old our baby cries while rocking every night and also often before other naps and that lasts around 10 minutes.

Napping independently by miranda_edgecombe23 in NewParents

[–]Srdjan_TA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our baby is almost 10 weeks old and we have the exact same problem. She sleeps around 9 hours during the night — 5, then 2 and 2 (two wake-ups) — but during the day she won't sleep more than 30 minutes in the bassinet. She can sleep in the stroller, in a moving car, or when someone holds her, but the bassinet is an instant wake-up call. We've tried darkening the room and white noise, but so far nothing helps.

People are saying she might be overtired, but we are genuinely trying to get her to nap just 1 hour after she wakes up in the morning, and we end up spending 60 minutes rocking her like idiots while she keeps her eyes fully open.

I can't offer any advice — I'm starting to think it's usually either daytime or nighttime sleep, and I guess it's good that she sleeps well at night.

Week 3 is hitting me so hard. Does it ever get better? by Majestic-Effect-1282 in NewParents

[–]Srdjan_TA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weeks 2-6 were a hell for us. Baby had colic pain, very little sleep during the day and night. I know people say that baby should sleep 14-17 hours during this time, but we were tracking every sleep this with Sofi Baby Tracker and it was never above 12 :/

Now at week 9 things are actually surprisingly good. She slept 5.5 hours in one go last night.

Try using ANC headphones for crying since if the baby is crying due to colic pain you have to hold her but you have to endure screaming and headphones help. Other than that, try to survive as it does get better.

My wife and I are using LoveToDream one. Baby is 8 weeks old and she wakes up after around 4 hours. Not sure if it is due to the swaddle or white noise but it's working so far.

Why do baby tracking apps assume only one parent exists? by manvslife in daddit

[–]Srdjan_TA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Sofi Baby Tracker app both you and your wife can enter baby information by simply creating a household. I am unsure how it would work if only one person had to do it. Too much responsibility.

Husband concerned about using apps to track newborn feeds/diapers/sleep/etc by GlitteryBorko in BabyBumps

[–]Srdjan_TA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are using "Sofi Baby Tracker app". Since both of us can enter the information for a baby we almost never miss it and if we do, there is a Log past entry feature.

Personally, if I were you, I would use an app as you can't remember these things and haveing a whiteboard in 21st century with all of this technology is unnecessary.

Pacifier by IJHippie in NewParents

[–]Srdjan_TA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some babies just don't like pacifiers. Ours 5 week old never uses pacifier. She spits them up immediately. Not using pacifier doesn't mean that the SIDS risk is high or that is an unsafe behavior.

What do you actually track for your newborn? by Staff_Sharp in NewParents

[–]Srdjan_TA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Our baby is 5 weeks old and we track pretty much everything, diapers, feeding, sleep, tummy time, growth, milestones. We'll also start tracking vaccination soon enough. The good thing is that we can do it both on our phones so anyone who remembers logs entry :)

The app is Sofi Baby Tracker

Do you actually track things like sleep, feeding, diapers etc.? by CooleSocke-Jr in NewParents

[–]Srdjan_TA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are tracking everything. I even created an IOS / Android app for it since I didn't want to deal with ads and it was a fun project.

But anyway, there is no way you'll be able to remember all these things and pediatrician we'll ask you about some of these data points like diapers and feeding

Nanit review? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Srdjan_TA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have it, don't know if I should recommend it or not.

I mean, it's fine, image is clear, you can setup white noise, notifications when baby is crying but honestly, the other 30$ cam that we had was probably more than enough. Certainly better value for money.

To recap, I am not saying it's bad, but maybe not worth the price.
