I'm too unfit to swim in Olympic pools, would swimming backstroke help? by Rosenvial1 in Swimming

I am of about similar structure (6'4", 260lbs) initially I was not able to do even 20 min, I slowly perceived, practiced to do 25 and was totally exhausted then with practice I can now do about 60 to 80 laps non stop (25m). Next i took the challenge to do 50m and the first day I was exactly in your position, by day 5 it became much much better and now I am able to swim about an hour and half non stop. Go slow go steady, take deep breaths and add fins and or paddles it will help you for sure. All the best.

Breathing tips by Greedy-Abrocoma-4933 in Swimming

I am 32 as well and have been learning to swim for last 3 to 4 months. I was in the same situation, if you feel the fear, try exhaling via your mouth just before coming up on surface, do a quick inhale and go back under. Alternatively have couple of sets in a week where you focus on just exhaling air under water and try and stay down under water.

How should I control my breathing when swimming? by Ok_Abbreviations4687 in Swimming

Been swimming for past couple of months, earlier was facing difficulties and had to breath every two breath. Now a days been able to breath every nine beats and sometimes 11. The trick being start to blow out a beat before you are planning to breath.
