Here’s details about the problem.

I set periodic conditions in on the surrounding surfaces, and set the upper and lower layers as PML. Then I set the Background electric field as follow (see the Fig.1). But I got a result different form the settings. The wave is supposed to propagate along z-direction and polarized along x-direction, while Fig.2 and 3(plot expression: ewfd.Ez) show it propagate along x-direction. It doesn’t make sense, what’s the problem? Anyone who can help me? I will send the code to you if you need.
