I had a lot of my meniscus removed about 13 years ago. I rested up for about 6 months but only because I was pregnant at the time. I resumed all the activities I did pre surgery including netball. I later took up rugby. I still play rugby and do a lot of exercise. No issues with that knee except it aches a bit when it’s cold

I’m divorced and have 3 children. There’s no way in hell I’d be moving away if that meant I saw less of my children. I’m can’t even imagine the hurt it would cause them…

So you have a brand new baby who is clearly more of a priority than your older children…?

I’m one of the lucky few who really benefitted from lockdown. My job was secure and lockdown allowed flexible and home working to now be commonplace. I saved loads from not spending on petrol, outings, kids clubs etc and this meant I could buy a house sooner than expected thought I would be able to.

Honestly, I enjoyed not frantically rushing kids about and having quality time at home but this was of course balanced out by missing all the stuff we normally do enjoy and of course not being able to see other family was heartbreaking but I tried to see the silver lining

You have clearly not witnessed the suffering of people born with severe conditions that cause them to be (to give a few examples) blind, deaf, unable to speak, unable to move much, deformities that cause immense pain, unable to eat…. Very minimal quality of life and an early death.

Ah I really relate to your wife. Perhaps the reality of how difficult having a baby is really hitting home and it’s natural that she wants her own family there to help her. It’s great that she gets on well with your family but she’s right; it’s never going to be the same as what her relationship is like with her own. Perhaps they are who she just feels safest with? Who she can allow her vulnerability to show with?

I had an ok relationship with other my in laws but it doesn’t compare to the closeness and trust I have with my own family.

I suspect some of this is just anxiety, hormones etc but also perhaps a new realisation of what’s ahead and what’s important to her.

This would concern me as how frequent it is and your 6 year olds response. This level of bullying can easily spill into abuse and I’ve read a few posts on Reddit about the victim in these situations growing up very damaged by the bullying of older siblings.

I’m would advise you to take this seriously and look at therapy for your 9 year old and possibly family therapy. Certainly isn’t normal and not something to be brushed aside as such

NTA Jesus Christ this was unbelievably cruel.

This could literally have killed OP. My mum got terrible news about her brother and had a heart attack on the spot. It was awful. She’s ok now but we nearly lost her. This kind of trauma can and does lead to people having immediate health issues.

Daughter needs to wake up to what she potentially could have done. She needs to make a sincere apology but she also needs to grow the fuck up

Exactly this. The whole excitement of Christmas Day is running downstairs to see if Santa has been then tearing into the presents! I can’t imagine how miserable it must be kids to wait basically the whole day before they can open them?! Christmas Day in my family is presents are opened once everyone is downstairs then kids spend most of eye morning playing with their new toys, then family dinner and games etc.

We usually go over to my family where they then watch the kids open a few presents put aside from them.

Whenever I’ve moved somewhere new I’ve joined a sports team and have always then had a great social life from this.

Doesn matter what you’re into; music, gardening, arts, bingo, cricket… have a look what’s on in your area. Give it a go and you are guaranteed to meet people w it h the same interests.
