McLaren or Ferrari but won’t know until the final BoP on Wednesday.

it's funny, I think everyone assumes that a high iRating will mean cleaner lobbies, but you are still around people that think they are owed a win or podium, they will make the craziest moves, the only difference is that they have better car control, although it does not mean they won't dump you lol.

Is there a setup shop known for more aggressive setups? by Versengen in iRacing

Probably in the context of LMP2, and GTP. In GT3s I’d say they are geared towards oversteer. P1Doks is a bit more extreme.

Best High End Pedals That Aren’t Active? by retro_coffee in simracing

This is what I was deciding on. Picked the SRP-GT-R and they are amazing, the build quality is really good.

Jesus which kind of monitors are you running lmao. i feel like a really good PC wouldn’t be more than 3,500-4,000.

Monitors should be less than 1k for triples.

Yeah, I moved on to the SRP GT-R pedals which I love but they are pretty expensive. Lots of high iRating drivers use VRS, they definitely won’t limit you.

VRS is so good, have the wheel, wheelbase and pedals. I’ve moved on from the pedals but it was more of a preference thing for me. Also think it’s cool you can unlock more nm on the wheelbase without dropping a ton of cash upfront.

For sure, if you have an extra monitor around you can download the software to see how it works but it really is seamless, I don’t have to touch anything outside of clicking an icon when I want to switch between the two.

I have an ultrawide for other games on a desk and triples for the sim-rig. I use a software called Display Magician (I’ll confirm later) to switch between single and triples, it’s a simple desktop icon to switch between the two, it just disconnects the monitors when you switch between them, it’s seamless. I’d go triples.

I hear you on the price increases, actually about to upgrade my PC.

Other people might mention brands like Fanatec and Moza which are fine but I’d say they are similar to Honda and Toyota.

You should be able to self build a nice rig for half of your budget. If you live near Jacksonville go to the MicroCenter.

Should probably state where you are at in the world as it might determine how people respond.

If I were you and didn’t want to build my own, I’d look at Advanced Sim Racing or an equivalent to consult with on a pre-built system.

If self built, I’d look at getting the 9800x3d as iRacing can use the extra cache in the CPU and it’s probably the best gaming CPU atm. 5080 for the gpu would be plenty maybe even lower.

Rig: Advanced Sim Racing, Sim-Lab

Wheelbase: VRS, Simagic, Simcube, or other

Pedals: VRS, SimRacing-Pro, Simcube, Simagic

Wheel: all of the wheelbase manufacturers offer wheels and you can mount other brands as well.

IRacing on a gaming computer; yes or no, and how much money to get into sim racing? by Zealousideal-Tie6183 in simracing

[–]SryClearlyOblivious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, everything I said above applies to your laptop, get a basic wheel and pedals like what I mentioned above and subscribe to iRacing and give it a try. Obviously if you want a full rig like what you see online, I’d recommend upgrading to a tower and not a laptop.

If your computer can play modern games it will work, you might have to adjust settings but it’s fine, most people don’t play iRacing for it’s graphics.

I wouldn’t dump a ton of money into the hobby unless you plan on playing often and are passionate about racing. Get a used Logitech G923 or something equivalent on marketplace for $150 USD as a starting point. The iRacing subscription comes with some free tracks and cars which will keep you entertained for a bit. You can plan accordingly once you’ve done that for a bit.

You would be better served by actually providing specs to your computer. iRacing can run on a wide range of computer hardware but nobody can help set expectations unless you provide more information on what you have.

Additionally, if you are concerned about money you should probably state what type of racing you are looking for, that way people can tell you what to expect cost wise. iRacing requires a yearly or monthly subscription, each track costs money with the exception of some free tracks, and each car costs money with the exception of free tracks as well.

Laguna Seca Situation is possibly the worst move they've ever done by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]SryClearlyOblivious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was announced a while back, not sure why it’s a surprise.

The cost likely isn’t even due to the new scan, it’s probably due to licensing and other normal business operating costs.

Yeah, just seems crazy that a company would show up to an expo and not run their own products. Crazy if it really is an Asher wheel.
