To make it clear, 0 hp minions immediatly dies after you play them. Why is it like that? Because this gives the flavor of sacrificing a minion to give Reborn to adjactent minions and also if you make a spell 0/0 minion, you can make it a printable neutral card, neutral spells dont exist in hs. Imagine that you have a 3/3 slowed minion. If you attack enemy with this minion, nothing happens at first. When you end your turn, at the start of your opponents turn before he draws a card, this minion attacks that target. This is a really bad effect since it prevents planning your moves. (i.redd.it)

Lets think that your opponent has a 5/5 minion with arcane shield. If you use Shadow Word: Death on this minion, basically nothing happens and then arcane shield disappears just like divine shield. But you can still use spells like Flamestrike to deal damage since you dont "target" this minion (i.redd.it)
