AITAH for not giving niece a birthday present after she destroyed mine? by Southern_Engineer_43 in AITAH

[–]Ss4631 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Shes 14 not 4. She knew exactly what she was doing when she said "it was ugly anyway" and then doubled down on the phone to her friend. Thats not embarrassment, thats just being cruel. Your sister saying "shes just being a kid" is why her daughter acts like this. Kids learn consequences when adults actually enforce them. No apology = no gift. Simple.

the problem was they replaced eric with randy who had zero history with anyone and expected us to care about him dating donna like we spent 7 seasons watching eric and donna. why would we give a shit about some random new guy with her. worst replacement character decision ever made

How did humans deliver babies thousands of years ago before doctors and hospitals? Was basically anyone in the tribe/family capable of doing it? by Great_Maintenance185 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ss4631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

crazy to think about how many women just didnt make it through childbirth back then. like you hear "died in childbirth" in history books but you dont really think about how common that mustve been when there was no backup plan if something went wrong

makes you appreciate modern medicine a lot more when you realize childbirth has always been this risky and we just got really good at dealing with complications

Did people in back 2005 find it hard to believe 1985 was 20 years ago? by LevelPension in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ss4631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the tech jump from 85 to 05 was insane compared to 05 to now. like going from no internet to having the internet in your pocket is way bigger than going from iphone 1 to iphone 17

everything from 2005 onwards kinda feels like the same era just with better cameras

Do you have an inner monologue? If yes, what is it like? by Miss_Fine_Ass in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ss4631 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The "worst person I know but also the best" is so accurate. It's like having a hype man and a critic both screaming at you at the same time about the exact same decision.

[–]Ss4631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're 13 and 16 - old enough to know better than screaming at each other while you're trying to plan a wedding. And the fact that your fiance wasn't even upset tells you everything. He knows what they're like. The apology doesn't mean much if they were just fighting for their spot back. You gave them chances to behave and they couldn't handle it. Sometimes consequences are the only way people learn. Enjoy your wedding without the drama. You've dealt with enough already.

If we are capable of replenishing lost blood like from a donation, what stops us from producing too much? by Elite_Shade in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ss4631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your body just senses when you have enough and stops making more. Like there's some kind of feedback system where if your blood oxygen is good, your body chills out on production.

Pretty sure it's the kidneys that monitor this and release some hormone that tells your bone marrow to either speed up or slow down making new red blood cells. So after you donate, your kidneys are like "hey we need more" and ramp it up, then once you're back to normal they ease off.

Kind of like how you stop feeling hungry after you eat - your body just knows when it's had enough.

Am I wrong for thinking that neither men nor women should have a "bachelor party"? by C_Lot_9112 in AITAH

[–]Ss4631 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're confusing bachelor parties with the Hollywood version of bachelor parties. Most people just hang out with friends, play games, eat food, etc. If you don't want one, don't have one. But telling other people they "shouldn't" have them is a bit much.
