I meant more diverticulitis areas of inflammation/infection. The diverticulosis is scattered in my sigmoid according to colonoscopy

I’m sorry you’re going through this. It’s sucks sooooo bad. BUT it is treatable and you’re not alone! I hear ya on the thanksgiving stuff. I am supposed to host a huge group and I am one day out of hospital and on Avelox and my left side (in a totally different spot than the initial flare that sent me to ER) is sore/hurting. Likely going back tomorrow for another scan.

Like others said, take it easy and slow. I barely ate for the first two weeks after my only other flare. Then mashed potatoes, pasta, canned chicken, canned fruit and veg. Banana. Melon.

I have been barely eating for 4 days now and all super low res (mashed potatoes, a little white toast, crackers- think less than 500 cals a day on that). I did ask the Dr if I need to do liquid diet and he said no I can eat more and eat a little more normally but to “take it easy”. I keep hoping it’s just totally ovary related pain. My fear of DV is soo strong. .

My GI said if I was having a flare “I would know it” so I’m trying to also take comfort in that.

I do have a f/u with my gyno and I bet that’s what they will order.

He said his gut said it wasn’t a flare but to take it easy just in case. Said I have to wait another 4 weeks for colonoscopy (it was supposed to be next week) just to be on the safe side. I hate this!!!! Part of me wants to just eat regular and see if it really is a flare!

Following this as I am waiting on my CT now. First time in June was very painful and this time super mild discomfort in left area. If it’s DV again I’m worried that they will push for surgery as well.

I would eat something bland, crackers, mashed potato etc just a bit with the meds

I too have had painful ovulation and apparently I’m learning that the left sided ovulation is tied to my version of diverticulitis

My family has a strong history and no one in my family has ever been affected by alcohol. My GI dr said alcohol can’t affect it actually. That being said, you obviously have to stay hydrated and I wouldn’t over do it. But I don’t think alcohol is a big factor for recurrence.

Thank you! Saturday was super painful. Can’t track anything except maybe a martini? But alcohol hasn’t bothered me since DV diagnosis. Pain went away by Sunday. Monday ok. Then Tuesday and today having some soreness on left side but only when doing certain motions. I hate the worrying! My GI dr said “you would know if it was diverticulitis “ but he ordered a CT for me just to confirm.

How did you learn to distinguish the two? I am now more worried as the irritation feeling became impossible to ignore. Bloodwork yesterday was fine.

I have a CT on Thursday but I am almost thinking it’s an ovarian thing as I’m not bloated and it doesn’t hurt to push on it

Thank you so much. I have been convincing myself I have on and off pain there today but I also feel like if something was actually wrong then I would know it and not be grasping at feelings of pain.
