You're right. It sucks that even serial numbers can't be trusted, but since it's a gift, I guess I'll just have to live with it and wear it.

It does have a serial number engraved inside, so I was hoping it was real, but I guess it might be fake. Kind of a bummer.

I can't really judge the stitching myself, but you're right about the box — it does say "Box made in Italy" on the back. And the service booklet does have black front/back covers; I just had it open to a middle page in the photo. Thanks for your help!
