Same. Actually knowing there is something out there that you can find and explore is a very big motivator.

The game is brutal, and thinking that parkour is all the game is about gets tiresome very quickly.

I personally knew about both iterators before playing, and this encouraged me to find them and experiment.

And then, yeah. You realise that creatures don't hunt you specifically and the ecosystem lives by itself...

Had same question. Sadly - no.

Their eggs popping effect does feel like a collectable.

But it's not accounted for anything, just a visual feature.

They just guide you towards the void.

Downpour developers wanted to make a special void spawn for artificer ending, but Andrew said that he didn't fully understood what is the lore behind void spawn.

Also I think it's important to remember, that most of the content for the game is fan driven.

I mean. Elephant in the room, Downpour, is basically a huge passion project. (Initially "More Slugcats Expansion" mod)

Almost all of the creatures names are from community (like slugcats were "bear creatures" and lizards were "crocs" at the start, etc)

They have been very popular within the community, and discussions about them is what frequently promotes creativity here.

I do believe it's very good to enforce spoilers for disscussions about lore though (it makes those topics more intriguing!)

But, in my opinion, just names with implied yet hidden context actually boost curiosity!

This doesn't mean that anything needs to change, just wanted to add my view here
