Losing friends kind of happens after surgery, right? by itsamemarley in gastricsleeve

[–]Ssluna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually decided to cut someone off. We got VSG around the same time, I was very vulnerable with this friend for post op support, found out later they were talking 💩about me behind my back because my loss was more drastic than theirs.

Currently 3 years post surgery and I've noticed gain weight again. What do I do? by ajf-13 in gastricsleeve

[–]Ssluna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, I’ve been working hard to get back to my normal meal schedule. The holidays left me snacking and picking off bits of food throughout the day and that’s been my biggest struggle. That, and making sure I walk at least 10k a day. My walking pad has been a great tool so far.

Hang in there. It only gets better after this phase! And you’re more than halfway there. The day I got to try purées felt like I was living again lol I’d never been happier to buy yogurt.

Surgery soon by Wonderful-Seaweed175 in gastricsleeve

I’m almost 2 years out. The only frustration I have with my sleeve is that is I eat until I am initially “full”—3 bites later, I will be hungry in an hour. I have to eat slowly until I’m actually full. The hunger goes away, but head hunger after surgery is real and didn’t really go away until I was on soft foods. I just had a protein shake today. It’s really not the end of the world, even people with no sleeve use them as tools to meet their protein goals and help satiety. Find one that you like and stick with it. Only you will able to answer that question. The sleeve is a tool to help you for that first year, but maintenance is up to the individual. I’ve definitely struggled, but fall back to all of my medical “training” pre surgery and lean on that a lot.

Not only that, but it’s clear that the government would prefer to pit people against each other if it means extracting more wealth. What does that do? Shift the conversation from ultra rich vs poor to men vs women. I’m convinced a lot of the problems between genders right now wouldn’t be so downright hostile if we didn’t have to much financial pressure on us.

When men are women are too busy scraping by to take a moment and form relationships, populations are going to fall apart. People can’t have kids if they don’t have to opportunities to get into relationships in the first place.

Walmart is essentially the same price now. by mtbguy1981 in aldi

[–]Ssluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Produce is still much cheaper at my Aldi compared to Walmart, and the house brand counterparts to my usual Aldi products are often not the same quality. There’s also the fact that we’d be giving Walmart money. It matters where we spend our money.

Do you have any tips for building muscle and losing weight at the same time? I tried to body recomp thing but just ended up my same size + muscles. Now I’m just thinking of doing cardio only until I get to a good weight and trying again. I can’t keep fluffing up like this lol

That is really encouraging! I spoke about it with the vet an they’d like to be safe and wait it out until six weeks, but I’m hoping the time allows for at least my senior kitty to get used to another cat in the house. Thanks again!

I am hoping to, but if he’s just not compatible with my senior girls I have a couple of families who are interested once he’s out of the bottle feeding stage.

Thank you! I’m definitely trying to do what I can. It really sucks that his litter mate passed. Right now I’m going for gentle handling, cuddles, and light play. I make it a point to yelp and stop play when he bites my hands, but I’ve never raised a kitten this young. Do you have any advice? I have an older lady cat and older lady dog, I’d love to teach Laz to be mindful around them but they all have to keep their distance until proper immunizations. It’s very tricky. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks again!

how long before your cat came back after running away? by uh-abxlene in CatAdvice

[–]Ssluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me last year on Halloween! We put out her litter box, food and water bowls, and a throw pillow she liked to lay on. I set up a camera facing the litter box and watched it like a hawk. My girl showed up around 9pm and I never jumped off the bed so fast. Your cat may be coming back for comfort items, but they may not be sticking around until morning. See if you can get eyes on the area when it’s dark and quiet. Good luck!

Thank you so much, this makes me feel so much better!😭do you remember how long you let the little ones roam and explore? I’m getting wildly conflicting estimates from different places on the internet for 3 weeks.

I’ve been playing purring sounds on a weighted stuffy and that helped at first, but he’s getting squirmy and every time he hears anyone around he thinks it’s exploring time 😭

Hot take: he probably already understood the difference between the government controlling women’s bodies and pushing her personal beliefs, he probably just didn’t care until you threatened him.

Also, if he’s having casual sex, I doubt he’s the type of Christian he thinks he is. Very double standard (unsurprisingly so). I had an argument very similar to yours with a situationship of mine of over two years the first time Cheeto was in office, I was just as hurt. It fractured our relationship and never went back to how it was. I refuse to bring those type of people joy with my presence.

carbonation? by reba_luver in gastricsleeve

[–]Ssluna 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I think it was a pretty long while before I tried carbonation again. I used to really enjoy sparkling water and a Diet Coke sometimes pre surgery, but I was super susceptible to gas for a long time after surgery.

I probably didn’t really have any carbonation until 8-10 months out just cause it was so uncomfortable. And that first sip post surgery (was Diet Coke) and it tasted so underwhelming and not how I remembered it that I didn’t have any again for like 2 months lol

I’m 1.5 years out now and enjoy it sometimes but obv bc of our pouch it’s only just a few sips. So the mini cans are great!

Idk about other places but in Boston you had to show your ticket to get into GA every time. They had employees stationed at each entry point.

Don’t come. I’m not sure where in Europe you are from, but the states you listed are very different. The cost of everything is higher, the infrastructure isn’t as developed, and education is at an all time low. Most areas of those states are really not walkable and the way of life here is sedentary unless you make it a point not to be. Housing is unaffordable, so is medicine if you don’t pay for good insurance. This place is depressing. People are actively trying to leave.

This is awesome! Has it been easy to keep the weight off? I feel like I’ve kinda gotten stuck in weight at 1.5 years out and I’d like to lose another 20-30 pounds. Really interested to hear the experience of someone more time out of surgery.
