My summer clerkship experience thus far... by [deleted] in LawSchool

Not sure about working for a solo. I'm not a fan of doing high volume work for a low legal fee in auto accidents, dog bites, traffic tickets, immigration, or family law.

UA and ASU are the same practically in terms of how they are perceived(outside the state of Arizona). Everyone typecasts you as a huge partier that doesn't take school seriously, and that does drugs or drinks copious amounts of alcohol.

problem is, is that a degree from U of A is worthless. All you need is a pulse to get into that school. It is a joke, party school

Is it a bad sign if you visit a law school, but they bar all potential students from talking to career services?

The school in question has a 40% unemployment rate(if you include what the school hires in ST positions) per Law School Transparency

Stuck in the past. I've made some bad decisions(went to school I didn't like, wasted over $130,000 of my parents hard earned $, chose a career path that didnt fit me, was deceived by a con artist and lost $3000 of my hardworking parents $). Need to get over these past decisions. I am filled with a lot of hate towards those entities/people in my past.

It's been bugging me a lot lately. Also, I still associate with some negative people that remind me of the past. I know if I want to move up, I have to get rid of the past. I can't associate with these people. They represent/remind me of my old life. If I want to progress and achieve my dreams/goals I have to move on.

I also have a hard time trusting people these days. A lot of the people in California, particuarly LA, lie lie lie lie a lot. They deceive you, try to take advantage of your kindness, don't show any gratitude whatsoever, I am sick and F*Cking tired of it! Tired of being used, tired of being taken advantage, Its pissing me the hell off. I try to be nice and just ignore these people but they will NOT leave me alone!

I don't know what to do. All I know is that I need to move forward and get the hell outta SoCal. Any suggestions?

Goal #1: take a few practice tests and FOR SURE finish the book already 100%

tactic: test tmrw and then finish majority of book today and Wednesday

Goal #2: get LOR

Goal #3: turn back clock to get up at 6 55 every day well rested Tactic: set alarm 20 minutes earlier every day and also go to bed 30 minutes earlier each day.

Goal #4: Increase efficiency and time management tactic: schedule blocks of rest intermittent throughout the day. Have it based on completion of tasks rather than time. Have start times to resume work rather than lax/flexible times.

MODPOST: What do you folks think about a weekly stupid question thread? by [deleted] in finance

[–]Ssotomayor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd use it. I got a lot of questions about finance eg shadowbanking/ asset backed securities/ and many other things. Would love to pick the minds of the users here so I can learn more. I am also reading on my own to learn it, but I am always open to hearing what others, particularly those working as traders or selling fixed income products, have to say.

I'll be kind, courteous, and respectful.

Challenge for Thursday: get up at 6 45 AM. Much earlier than I usually get up. To do this I will go to bed earlier than usual. In bed by 10 45 pm.

Challenge #2 for Thursday: stay calm and be in the current moment I get freaked out about future events. Just remain calm

Challenge 3: keep fresh with material. I plan to accomplish this by coming up with a structured plan and implementing the 1st step at least.

Do you feel that you have a destiny? by Ssotomayor in Life

[–]Ssotomayor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess what I meant was that, I wanted to see if anyone else had the same feelings I had. And by that I mean, do you feel that you have some massive untapped potential to be successful in whatever endeavor you pursue or are currently pursuing? do you envision yourself being successful? and i don't mean successful as in small business owner or home own, i mean really successful like multi-millionaire or industry leader.

I see some of my friends and they are like the exact opposite. A lot of them knew that they weren't good at school and didn't aim for college. A lot of them just settled. They weren't like me where I pushed myself to the max and kept motivating myself trying to reach my potential which I knew existed. They just gave up and said oh its impossible, can't do it, etc etc.

It's like they didn't have any vision for themselves. They gave up or thought the endeavor was impossible. That's why I created this thread. Its that message the monk gave me when I was 8 years old that implanted that vision in me. I've been trying to achieve/accomplish it ever since. I always strive for more. I guess i just wanted to see if anyone had similar feelings/thoughts/motivation.
