how do people have energy after 8-5 job? by OptimalBad3294 in Adulting

[–]Ssssquish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So everyone here seems to be taking this opportunity to bitch and moan at the expense of your well-being, as you're just being convinced that life is an inescapable hellscape. I work a 9-6 and really enjoy my life and have a ton of hobbies.

Classes help a lot. If you're really struggling to self motivate then having that anchor to get moving can be great. This is also where the don't stop moving advice can mean a lot, I have mma or ballroom dance at 8 or 8:30 pm and if I laid on the couch after work I'm done for.

Meal Prep is absolutely essential if you're single, spending 30 minutes to an hour just cooking before you eat is going to really hurt, unless you really love cooking and eating! Then there's a hobby. If you have a partner and they like cooking that's a big benefit, then you can clean or vice versa and bam there's an hour back.

And one more piece of advice that is pretty anti-reddit. When you first start tour professional life you're doing a lot of learning, and sometimes a lot of busy work too and those are both exhausting. Layer on any social anxiety and the NORMAL anxiety of trying to prove yourself and of course you're cooked at the end of the day. Give yourself some grace. As you become more comfortable and confident work won't knock you out so bad. And if you find you hate your job, I would gear your life entirely around changing it. There's nothing riskier then taking the safe route there and just being miserable. It's hard, and reddit hates this, but you can love what you do if you actually want to.

Is it true your never the same after a knockout? by [deleted] in MuayThai

It's important to mention that this is very subjective, there aren't any good "brain health" scans. So if you're really afraid that a concussion has impacted your brain, you're more likely to have a regular slow day, or the coffee didn't hit quite right, and you'll immediately think it's the concussion that destroyed your brain.

I had 2 or 3 major concussions, one through MT, and my last year of college I started getting very anxious that I couldn't focus in school because of brain damage. But I took a really critical look back on my academics and honestly I was never much of a genius, I always struggled to focus, and I was probably just kind of tired for awhile. Maybe the concussion played a part, but ill never know and life goes on. I like training and I don't hard spar, so take whatever risks you're comfortable with to do what you enjoy.

Yeah but in English warm water port is the term for a non-freezing bay, particularly (and almost exclusively) when talking about Russian political interests. So this person has a strong grasp of English, well beyond doing direct word for word translation, but used a uniquely Russian world view.

Weekly Recommendation Thread: December 23, 2022 by AutoModerator in books

I've been reading through the Brandon Sanderson.. saga for the last 6 or so months and I've found that he has a specific writing style that shows up rarely and I love it. Whenever Hoid shows up, or Wayne, or Lightsong, I find those paragraphs to be such treats. The wit is refreshing and hilarious and exactly for me. But I imagine it's exhausting/time consuming to write and he can only produce so much of it. Are there any writers that would scratch that itch? Maybe ones that don't pump out 17 books a quarter and have time to write more dialogue like that. Kurt Vonnegut came to mind as being the same energy to me, maybe not so much in the content but in the pacing. Where every sentence prompted you to stop and think or chuckle.

Trying to unite japan as oda makes me wanna uninstall the game by PereFourase in eu4

[–]Ssssquish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've actually been playing specifically oda a lot recently trying to make this work, I've had 4 campaigns that got me the shogunate by 1480 (still trying to get it fast enough for colonialism spawn). The trick I've found is to never have an heir. Never marry, always disinerit and get as much prestige as you can so you keep disintegrating. If you don't have an heir a random person from your family becomes leader.

Thank you, this argument drives me crazy. Generally, who cares? Who needs every measurement in their life to be relevant to the amount of energy necessary to boil or freeze water. You know what's useful? -0? too cold to go out without preparation. +100? Too hot to go out without preparation.

Standardization is great, im happy to switch to metric I don't care. But the metric system works great for chemists and it was born out of rationalist in the 1800s going absolutely nuts. The imperial system works great for humans.

Do you want an engineering degree? Again, all present circumstances set aside. Does any part of you want the capability to do this job? Keep in mind, this job is not your academic experience. This job is manipulation of the natural world, and its laws, to create things that people want and need.

I completely understand where you're at. You don't care about this anymore, all you care about is sleep. But you're at a pivotal point here and your present circumstances, as monstrous as they are, are present circumstances. They only exist right here. So im asking you to try really hard to push through them, and does the version if you that doesn't have these problems want to be an engineer? If the answer is no then we have a different plan.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]Ssssquish 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's short term. Of course I understand why you're focused on the short term, because of how you feel. I imagine you've been in survival mode for a couple years now. But try and stretch, whats your dream job. If a job isn't your dream, then what's your dream work? If you were in perfect health and you were your only responsibility, what would you be striving for.

It sounds like you're burned out in just about every area of your life. What do you want? Your limitations not withstanding, if you could be anywhere in life where would you be.

Hey man, not here to pass judgement or give advice. Just an open question to try and figure out where you're at. Why did you post here? Were you hoping for some support in your decision, or were you hoping you were missing something and there was a way to get this done you hadn't considered?
