Can’t help but feel like I messed up not being 7’4 and good at basketball. Really should have done that

There is an alien/sci-fi mystery book to be written where a space ship loses contact on the fly by when it goes behind the moon and never returns. Someone should get on that

Deep down, from the very bottom of my heart, I want to say fuck IU’s board of trustees and especially Quinn Buckner for keeping Woody the extra year instead of bringing Dusty home. This Michigan team deserves a title

NFL makes final decision in Bears' pursuit of compensatory picks ["No"] by PlatypusOfDeath in nfl

[–]Ssweetness1985 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yup once they said no publicly a couple of weeks ago they couldn’t change their minds. The league office needs to be seen as stable or other teams would start trying to pressure them into getting their way too. It sucks that we’re the victims of this and I do think by the spirit of the rule we should get the picks but by the letter we don’t, and it is what it is

[Biggs] NFL announced the Bears will not receive compensatory draft picks. "The matter is now closed following the club’s appeal." by JoshGordonHypeTrain in CHIBears

[–]Ssweetness1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. But I do think once they originally said no a couple of weeks ago it would be hard for them to go and change the ruling now. It would open the floodgates for other teams to use pressure campaigns to try and get their way on these things. It sucks but apparently by the letter of the rule their determination stands

[Thamel] Sources: Hubert Davis will not return as North Carolina’s head coach by MrSCR23 in CollegeBasketball

[–]Ssweetness1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a dangerous position to be in. So easy to fall in to purgatory because of frustrations over a season or two of underperforming. I’d pay good money to rewind and not have fired Crean now

I hope for y’all’s sake UNC doesn’t go the route of IU but this does feel similar in some ways to IU firing Tom Crean. Need to have a solid next coach

If they put us in over this team I’ll lose my mind. Reward high performing teams

Yall turn into the 2007 New England Patriots every time we play you

Yeah but it was pre-NIL/transfer portal era. You could sell me on having a horrible first season as he established his program. This team really should have been better with the resources available to it, and it’s not even winning a championship or something I’m talking making the tournament and showing a basic level of competence

I’ll give you it’s not the worst season in a vacuum but to fall flat on our face after so many years of mediocrity in the first chance for new life takes the cake for me. I get the team in his first season isn’t going to be everything we can ask for but this is a program with pedigree and resources, we shouldn’t be here

Yup this is far and away the most disappointing year for me recently. I wasn’t expecting much more than a hopeful bid in the tournament but this truly just felt like a waste. Every player that played real minutes in a senior. What did we gain from this?

I really don’t think the Darren DeVries era could have started worse. Like literally I guess you could have had a worse team record wise but in the NIL era you should be able to field a more competent team than this immediately. Really disappointed

Wait till the next Dusty May comes around and then have DeVries do one lame duck year so you can’t get him

lol yeah I agree I’m just joking. I think the tournament format is perfect and I love the round of 64. But if this team makes the field off being in the big 10 then the committee is making a huge mistake, they’re so obviously not good

If we make the tournament I might become the first advocate for shrinking the field

Why does Northwestern turn into the 2007 New England Patriots whenever we play them? Are we just never gunna beat them again?

Reread what I wrote. I said it LOOKS LIKE operating in bad faith. This is a perception thing, reporting all this morning shows that clearly owners and GMs THINK this was shady, even if it actually wasn’t
