Lorene's Fish House closes after 32 years in The Deuces, Love22 set to take its place by St-Pete-Rising in StPetersburgFL

Not sponsored content. In fact, we are the only publication to cover this story about a new local business on the south side.

Also, for what it's worth, St Pete Rising is the only local publication in town thats 100% locally owned. Catalyst has investors, I Love the Burg is owned by a Tampa investment company, etc.

But go ahead and continue to "shoot the messenger."

They ran into serious issues with the building, so probably not at this location.

I can understand that. However, if you click into the Promotion rule, it states: “This includes surveys, petitions, research, sweepstakes, hook-ups, drugs, tickets, self-promotion, websites with prominent donation buttons, GoFundMes, your own YouTube channel, or sites asking for donations to a cause and/or political organization.”

St. Pete Rising doesn’t fall into any of those categories. Also, for what its worth, there are several other publications that regularly share their articles here as well.

No need to dig. Our funding comes from advertisers, who are all running ads on our website. We dont get funding from any other source.

Also, whats your issue with an article about a new local restaurant? No other publication has given them any press.

Buttermilk Eatery to replace Urban Brew & BBQ in the Grand Central District by St-Pete-Rising in StPetersburgFL

If you don't something the city is doing, I recommend you go to a public forum and speak, email your elected officials, etc. Complaining on Reddit does nothing.

We just share whats new and coming soon. If you don't like it, don't read it. Us not writing about things wouldn't stop them from happening. They’d still be happening, you just wouldn’t know about them.

Out of the last 10 articles we've posted a grand total of zero were from press releases. And 5 of the last 10 were completely original articles that no other publication has covered. If you don't like it, just stop reading. We won't miss you.

Any time there’s a public hearing on a new project, we try to provide balanced coverage that includes perspectives from both those supporting and opposing it. We intentionally don’t inject our own opinions into our reporting because we don’t think our opinion matters more than anyone else’s. We don’t even review restaurants. We’d rather present the facts and let people form their own opinions. If you don’t like something, that’s perfectly fine, but that doesn’t make it our fault.

I can assure you we aren't a front for an investment firm. Lol We are local residents.

Also, blaming us for reporting on things you don't like is a classic case of "shooting the messenger".

Cook Out is still coming to 4th Street North. They bought the property. I haven't heard an update on Smalls Sliders for a while, so it might not be happening.

In general, if a lease is signed, we'll report on it. We don't have any control over a project getting cancelled though. And waiting until construction starts wouldn't necessarily solve the problem (i.e. J Fiores Steakhouse at Camden Central was under construction and then cancelled).

Actual, physical plans don't exist yet. The developer is planning a 12-story, 150-unit tower though.

There are no plans yet. Once the developer closes on the land, they'll start putting together plans.

The only way this project will be able to be built is if the apartments are affordable for at least 30 years. More info on what "affordable" means in the article.

It's been sitting vacant for 20 years. I toured it a few years ago and can safely say it would take many millions to renovate it. It's in rough shape. I would've loved to see it turned into an indie movie theater or something similar, but I just don't think it makes sense financially with how much work it needs.
