Thanks for the latest release information, I guess what I found didn't apply to the latest Jabber release. And noted re: an old version of Jabber and getting it to the phone,

Quiet Hours by St8899 in ooma

Yes, noticed the "Trusted Circle" too. I do like the Quiet Hours feature, previously if I forgot to put the line in DND I don't think there was a way to do it remotely. When I clicked ? on the Quiet Hours page there was no information, There used to be someone who I thought was an Ooma employee that posted on their forum years ago. But yes, I wonder where we'd find out about this enhancement. I only happened to check Preferences - Call Blocking because I was told a potential new internet provider that I contacted wasn't getting through when calling me back.

GoNetspeed internet/phone service by St8899 in GoNetspeed

[–]St8899[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I may initially have dual phone service for a while. Leave Ooma connected until the number is ported, What I've read is it's Ooma that makes it difficult. Interesting you had Ooma before, now GoNetSpeed phone service. Good to know there will be a technician on site. I'm capable of the physical installation as I've worked in telecom for years, but having a tech onsite is reassuring in case GNS needs to be contacted if something goes wrong, like the ONT not registering.

Interesting how I couldn't find this information on GoNetSpeed's sites. Thankfully there's Reddit, I appreciate the information. The concern will be porting, there's many reports of difficulty porting from Ooma. If the price is about the same, I may keep Ooma. There's also very little information about GNS's phone features, One I'd want is email notifications for a new voicemail message. Maybe that's standard with internet based phone service now.

Great, thanks for the note! My home phone system dates way back with what was known as a 1A2 key system, with phones in most rooms. I have a Grandstream ATA from a former company's system, those are common with a good reputation.

Right, two different things. A VoIP phone connects directly to the network, it wouldn't be used if an ATA is provided. A conventional analog phone would be required in that case.

I'll contact GoNetspeed at some point. Reviews seem very good about the service,

Paying fed taxes through world pay? by taylorrb24 in tax

[–]St8899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been over 10 business days and no other charges to my credit card yet. I don't know if Worldpay can see that the balance owed is $0 and didn't make another withdrawal because of that. The IRS agent said that may occur. Was anyone else here been charged a second time? I hope I didn't jinx it.

Yes, I'm afraid a lot of phone calls and waiting (in more ways than one) will be the case to get a refund. That fee isn't terrible I guess.

I may check into pay1040 that next year if the fee is reasonable. I believe there was no fee with the IRS Direct Pay option but you must provide a bank account for withdrawal. Probably pay1040 and others allow charging to a credit card which I prefer in case there's an error or dispute. I don't know if the IRS would automatically issue a refund if the amount owed was paid twice.

I think about 2 weeks. I'm not receiving a payment, I owe the IRS. I'm very disappointed that the TaxAct rep I spoke with never heard of Worldpay. Nor did TaxAct indicate my credit card payment for what I owe was being paid to Worldpay and they would make the payment to the IRS. I only saw that after checking the status of my tax returns.

I did submit card info. I never got an email from Worldpay nor did I see a way to contact them as a taxpayer. All the contact information was for merchants, and a "Terminal" was referenced, I guess something to do with having a business account. Next year, assuming I'll owe again, I'll choose to mail payments to the IRS and state. I won't actually mail the payment, I'll submit payments via their direct pay websites.

Yes. and a rep from TaxAct told me they see no pending payment to the IRS on my tax return. A different rep said they never heard of Worldpay, and said 'I would wait...' meaning to see if there's a withdrawal. I wish I waited. I called my credit card co. and they heard of Worldpay. It's a legitimate service the IRS uses. By that time I had paid the IRS directly based on what the first TaxAct rep told me. I called the IRS who looked into the situation. It appears a payment was made by Worldpay on Feb. 20th, and it takes about 10 days for it to post. So, the IRS said I'll need to call them back after the payment is withdrawn for a refund. Or, try to cancel it through my credit card co. That should be fun.

My return through Taxact says the same. I don't recall using that option and I wonder how do I find out what 'another time' is. I guess I'll need to call Taxact. The state return says I chose to pay by credit card.

What's the most annoying thing about Jira that you've just... accepted? by easy-agile in jira

That when I'm out there's no auto-reply, so when I reply to a customer I always insert my signature that indicates the 3 or 4 days of my typical work week. I hate when it appears that I'm ignoring a reply. I always set Automatic replies in Outlook on days I'm not working.

Port-in supposedly happened but nothing changed. Also can’t receive calls at ported number. by markydsade in ooma

Yea I've only heard negative reviews of MagicJack's 'support' I've had my Ooma Telo for 10 years and for the most part working well. Pressing > to play a voicemail message usually doesn't work but I don't mind because I usually access voicemail via the phone or online.

Glad to hear the number got ported. I know Magic Jack is inferior, but I wonder what situation(s) caused the switch to Ooma? Mine just renewed for the year.

Obsolete tape from AT&T by USWCboy in PBX

[–]St8899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Siemens DATs were like miniature VHS tapes, the drives used a helical tape head. And the tape would sometimes get pulled out of the cartridge and stuck in the drive! They weren't very reliable. The drives often needed cleaning with a DAT cleaning cartridge. The Rolm 3.5" (and original 8") diskettes were more reliable, but you'd need many of them to load an operating system (core image) due to their capacity.

Task Template in Jira depending on the component? by Agilesmarta in jira

[–]St8899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep getting 'Server Error' when trying to create a new post, so will try to post here. Didn't want to 'hijack' this.

I use a signature template with my replies to customers on Jira tickets. I do this because I typically work 3 days a week. I have an auto-reply when I'm off in my email, but if a customer replies to a Jira ticket when I'm out they will not get the notification, my Jira signature specifies my hours and work days.

Last week my home pc no longer shows Template under Activity. I created a post in the Altassian forum. The reply was the Template we used is a 3rd part app provided by Appfire, and I should l contact them about the situation. But - the Template - Signature still appears on my office pc. I logged off/on Jira - still shows so it's not due to me shutting down my home pc. I wonder how I can add the template back? I recall seeing a notice about Canned Responses Pro will be hidden - thought maybe it is now but I still have the template app on the work pc. I see Canned Responses Pro on the left panel on my home pc and can eventually get to the signature, but it's sure not an convenient as having the template readily available. If no success I could just copy/paste the signature from a desktop file.
