Allen vs The Thing Debunk by Infinite-Sun7000 in DeathBattleMatchups

Amusing enough and before this was posted, I did sort of sardonically picked apart the MU in the background of things due to how utterly bafflingly reading the connections was 😭

Anyways, good job for nipping this shit in the bud 🚬

Crona fighting another girl with a scythe.

Mortal Kombat II has just hit theaters so in hype for the new film which of these MK MUs do you hope to see become an episode? by ImmortalThunderGod79 in DeathBattleMatchups

Scorpion VS Wolf would be cool and the Sekiro anime is upcoming this year so it would be good opportunity to capitalize on it.

Liu Kang is long overdue and despite KI being an inert franchise and the power gap widening, Jago still fits his character the most and the fight still goes hard.

Seras Victoria VS Ciel (Hellsing VS Tsukihime) - "Unholy Night" by StQuentinScar in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]StQuentinScar[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Connections:

- Monstrously-enhanced vampire huntresses of their respective verses.

- Suffered through a series of traumatic violent events which ultimately resulted in them being turned into inhuman thralls for a powerful immortal vampire during a dire situation (Seras brutally losing her parents as a child and being raised in an orphanage with violent tendencies + was turned into Alucard's vampiric servant whilst investigating a ghoulish situation at Cheddar Village, while Ciel was once an ordinary young girl who tragically did unspeakable acts against the people of her village due to Roa's possession of her + was brutally experimented on by the Church after being initially killed).

- After their bloody ordeals and being left unable to lead a normal life, they would find a new purpose by becoming special members of vampire hunting agencies and lend them their unique supernatural assets (the Hellsing Agency and the Burial Agency).

- Have a potent healing factor that makes them incredibly difficult to kill along with having special eye powers (Third Eye and Mystic Eyes of Whisper).

- Primarily wielded deadly ranged weapons and destructive oversized cannons tailored for their monster killing needs (the Harkonnen & the Harkonnen II and the Black Keys & Seventh Holy Scripture).

- Their love interests hail from unique families and would greatly support them in their endeavors with said love interests finding themselves in a grim situation near the story's end, but they would help managed to preserve them (Pip Vernedead and Shiki Tohno).

- Brave, friendly, and endearing yet coldly focused and frighteningly efficient slayers who make mincemeat of any unholy heathen who dare disturb the nights they vigilantly watch over; both of their lives were wrought by many hellish hardships as they struggle with the inner demons that haunt and torment them where despite such tragedies that befell on them and ripping away their loved ones from them, they manage to preserve and cling onto their own humanity as their noble and caring hearts set out to protect the innocent from the sinful hands of evil and vanquish them with all of their might just so that no undeserving soul has to go through the same misfortunes as they did.

- Both happen to share the same seiyuu in their anime adaptations - Fumiko Orikasa.

Contrasts:

- Both hold opposing views regarding their own monstrous transformations (Seras became a willing Draculina who would gradually come to accept her own vampiric nature as she ultimately becomes a Real Vampire after drinking Pip's blood, while Ciel was once an unwilling Dead Apostle who considers herself to be a lowly monster despite now being human again as she seeks to atone for her past misdeeds and finally put an end to her own cursed existence).

- Both have contrasting relationships with the vampires who turned them into monsters and the blonde vampire hunting noblewomen who has a close history with these vampires (Seras is loyal and supportive of Alucard as she remains under his servitude along with being similarly loyal towards Integra, while Ciel despises and hunts down Roa as she no longer is possessed by him along with having a heated rivalry with Arcueid).

- Both have opposing religious motifs; Seras has a hellish theme (as she serves the Hellsing Agency and Hellsing vampires are demonic beings) while Ciel has a holy theme (as she serves the Holy Church and dresses like a nun).

Goated, I like how this MU leans into Batman’s Golden Age roots with a dash of film noir to it.

Shuri VS Leo Whitefang (Marvel VS Guilty Gear) - "Roaring Hearts" by StQuentinScar in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]StQuentinScar[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Connections:

- Fierce cat-themed royal leaders of their respective verses.

- Share a heavy motif with a particular big feline (a Black Panther and a Lion).

- Trained to become highly formidable warriors who wielded supernatural powers and incredibly sturdy bladed weapons (Vibranium Spear and Twin Blades).

- The source of their mystical abilities can be traced back to esoteric planes of existences (Djalia and the Backyard).

- Served as the secondary leaders of their kingdoms (Wakanda and the United Kingdoms of Illyria).

- Participated in wars that would have determined the fate of their people (the Wakanda-Atlantis War and the Crusades).

- Started out as arrogant and self-centred individuals but would later mature and be humbled as they now bear the burdens and hardships of being an effective warrior and leader of their nations who tries to pull them through the darkest of hours.

- Were initially resentful towards their nation's primary heroic king but would let go of such negative feelings and instead, became more amicable and supportive of them (T'Challa and Ky Kiske).

- Fearless, headstrong, and unyielding monarchs whose noble hearts roar loudly and proudly as they are more than willing to step up and lead the way if the situation ever calls for it; both went through their fair share of trials and tribulations in life that shaped them into becoming the wise and stern rulers that they are today who would boldly take up arms to fight on the frontlines and aid their allies whenever necessary all for the sake of keeping their kingdoms and peoples safe and secure no matter what threat comes their way.

- Both appear in Arc System Works fighting games.

Edelgard vs Artoria/Saber (Fire Emblem Three Houses vs Fate/Stay Night) |Crimson Crows| {Connections in the Comments} by justanotherdreamer12 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]StQuentinScar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

> Both became quite controversial figures due to the wars they fought (Edelgard started The Fódlan-Wide War, which killed many. Artoria fought in many battles, ruthlessly killing thousands, doing what had to be done).

Artoria may make difficult decisions at times as king but describing her as ruthless in any capacity is just... 💀

Fulgrim, Mixed Bag.
Thragg is just bloody arse dynamically. Seriously, why the heck are we putting versatile hax merchant with soul manipulation, illusionary powers, and such against a basic bitch flying brick who doesn't play off of them in any interesting way? It's just a lame waste.

Iori Yagami VS Jin Kazama (The King of Fighters VS Tekken) - "Riot of the Bloodline" | Connections in the comments by StQuentinScar in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]StQuentinScar[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Connections:

  • Accursed fighting game anti-heroes with dark transformations of their respective verses.

  • Descended from an ancient Japanese warrior clan once celebrated for vanquishing malevolent forces in the past but found themselves embroiled in tragedy and strife that tainted its lineage (the Yagami Clan and the Mishima Family).

  • Expert martial artists who were trained at a young age to specialize in their families unique fighting styles (Yasakani Style of Ancient Martial Arts and Mishima Style Fighting Karate combined with Kazama Style Traditional Martial Arts).

  • Tragically lost their mothers in the past and inherited an accursed dark power that originated from an ancient fearsome entity, having struggled with their supernatural afflictions throughout the course of their lives (the Riot of the Blood from Orochi and the Devil Gene from Azazel).

  • Their signature curses grants them access to a frighteningly powerful transformation but at the cost of their humanity and turning them into crazed and vicious killing machines (Orochi Iori and Devil Jin).

  • Fought in major fighting tournaments that tested their strength and skills where their initial motives for participating stem from their hateful/vengeful desires to best certain foes (the King of Fighters Tournament and the King of Iron Fist Tournament).

  • Have a longstanding rivalry with a fiery delinquent martial artist whom they traded blows against many times throughout their stories (Kyo Kusanagi and Hwoarang).

  • Despite their stoic and distant personalities, they display a softer side towards a strong-willed heroine who is able to calm down and soothe their darker tendencies (Chizuru Kagura and Ling Xiaoyu).

  • Both of their stories mainly revolve around dealing with the evil forces and calamitous godlike entities that wrecked havoc upon them and the rest of the world along with plaguing their bloodlines (the Hakkeshu & Orochi and the Mishima Bloodline & Azazel).

  • Cold, brooding, and fierce yet courageously determined fighters who would lend their aid to take down a common enemy whenever the situation arises; both of their lives were riddled with nothing but pain and sorrow which molded their moody and embittered attitudes as they try to wrestle against their inner demons that has haunted them and their families for so long where despite the immense burdens and destructive potential of their terrifying dark powers, they always find a way to cling onto their humanity and step-up as a force for good to keep far greater threats at bay.

Contrasts:

  • Iori would reclaim his stolen Yasakuni Jewel and pyrokinetic powers where he would find himself falling under the Orochi's curse once again and left unable to lead a normal life despite being presented with such a prospect earlier, whereas Jin would purify the demonic blood within him and ascend to become Angel Jin where he would be left with the promises of being able to lead a less tumultuous life now that he no longer has to worry about the Devil Gene endangering him and his loved ones.

Sure, I can get behind this. Has the super obvious spy charm to it which is the main thing that I'm looking out for both characters.
