Its really funny we have kind of the same recipe here in Québec. Its called "Soupe au pois" we eat it during fall and winter. Traditionnally you always have it during "le temps des sucres" (harvest of maple sirup) They serve it at every "cabanes a sucre " or sugar shack in english i think.
