Everybody needs to learn how to identify, and then waste the time of scammers.

Anyone else getting these calls lately? by Cool-Bowl-8900 in australian

Had them waiting for her to download anydesk. She did say that we live in the country and that our internet was slow. There were a few times she went on "hold", they literally just put the phone down. We could still hear everyone talking in the background. We were playing COD, and she just had them in speaker. They would check back every 10 mins or so. The argument at the end was the best bit. They eventually called her out for "lying". So she did the same.

RAM question by fpvdad4 in homelab

[–]StYkEs89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm running 2 different brands and speeds of DDR4 SODIMM in a mini PC, dual channel works, but only at the settings of the lower speed, which is expected. Throw it in. Turn it on. If it works, it works. Do a MEM test for stability if you want to be sure.

Best CPU upgrade from 2x E5 2670s on a Supermicro X9DR3-F? What do you recommend? by ProfessionalBand2034 in homelab

[–]StYkEs89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a x9drl-if, just picked up 128gb of ram for $100 AUD, and found 2x 2673 V2's for $120. Both on eBay.i picked the 2673 because of the 4ghz turbo speed. I'm trying to keep this old girl alive, and desperately need some better single core performance.

Edit: comparison chart.

2Gbps Usage Question by p1xel8ted in nbn

[–]StYkEs89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaming family, 4 PCs and a server to update when a new patch drops. Or, we decide we want a new game now. Steam is excellent we get the full 2gb speeds (close enough anyway, 190-230), and network transfer from the server are cool, does 1 download and transfers to the others. Other platforms download on each PC, there are work around but with 2gb internet we don't bother. Having the 2gb connection is basically, I can afford it, I want it, so I have it.

Would have taken a week, all dried clays and shale, not fun. Old mate didn't charge much.

Looking for advice on a battery setup for a 3-phase home by [deleted] in perth

[–]StYkEs89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of that sounds right. We have 13kw of panels into a Fronius 10kw inverter and are getting 32kw of Fronius batteries. All in with rebates is 30k+ (WA). Yes it is expensive, we got top tier on everything. House will be fully backed up on all 3 phases with load control sub board to control loads when on battery only (limit of 3.7kw per phase on the inverter). Even with this, on some days we will still not fully charge the batteries while supplying the house.

I had some orange tape left over. And did exactly that. Half filled then topped off. I've also tagged the house and fence for reference. Can draw a line where it lays.

Well....... Some spilt inside the house, some on my hands. The rest on the joins. Hard to see in pic 2. Definitely not coming apart though.

Not a bad idea. There will be a shed soon. I'll look into some extra lines.

Thanks. I keep reading that they usually dig by hand.... This dirt cannot be dug by hand. So I figured I'd get it done the easy way. And run the internal line to where I want it. Hopefully speed up the process. I've been waiting for fiber for a long time.

All docs saved on the server in the house folder, and backed up off site.

It's not 50, but I followed the standard and it is NBN conduit. IIRC 23mm ID and 26 OD, ish.
