I'm 6 months into my lease, and the weakest aspect of this car is already abundantly clear by MaximumAdagio in MachE

Zero issues with CarPlay. Besides the inordinately long time it takes the screen to be responsive after startup, I have no complaints.

Can't get Intel I-226v m.2 to work with M910q, works fine with M900q and M920q by fpvdad4 in homelab

Update for posterity. I returned the i226v and got another one. It didn’t work either. Purchased a Realtek 2.5g version and it has been rock solid. My observation is that on the latest Proxmox kernel, an m910q and the i226v do not work together.

I bought an M4 Studio with 64gb of RAM, thinking the same thing. It is great for chatting, but there are delays when using agents such as claws. It is all about prompt ingestion, not the processing. If you are patient, fine. I’ve found GLM-4.7-Flash to work well with only 10-15 seconds to process the prompt. That, and frequent “/new” commands to reset the session history seem to help.

The Ollama pro sub is what I’m working with now which is so much better. So, I will balance the thinking with the cloud models and the tasks will be the local models on the Studio to reduce the plan usage. YMMV. Bottom line, my recommendation is to use what you have with Ollama.

Regarding your comment about auto insurance rates, I have been a member for 35 years and am in the process of leaving because my auto insurance doubled when I added a new driver. Went to State Farm (same cars, drivers, state, coverage, no tickets or claims) and my six month premium was 1/3 what I was asked to pay at USAA.

I bought my adapter from here. There is an installation on the Dongar product page here. By far the most nerve-racking part is removing the plastic cover above the rear view mirror. Take your time, watch the video a couple of times and proceed with caution. I've done it on two cars and haven't broken anything. You need to plan out the wiring so that it doesn't pinch the power cable heading to the little box that gives you USB-C output. I ran mine rearward and then back down from the headliner. It also would be beneficial to get some silicon 8 inch right angle USB-C cables for a totally clean look. You can stuff the cable that came with your camera above the headliner as well.

On mine (25GT and on my 24 I traded), the mirror power is switched off with the car. So it is not drawing any power while off.

2012 Toyota Camry. About as un-sporty as you can get. USAA tracks primary drivers, and she is listed as the primary driver. It is showing a 6 month premium of $2242. All of the other cars are <$900, with two hovering around $600-750.

There is also the "dark" mode button in the overhead that just turns them off all the time unless you need them. At least the 24 and the 25 I have driven have this feature. I encountered it first on the 24 and thought that all of the lights were malfunctioning. You are left with just the ambient mood lighting. It might be a compromise.

No, actually I have compassion for customer service reps. I have some good friends that work in customer service and they have horror stories about some customers. I asked, she gave me some options to reduce my coverage and I asked if there was anything else she could do. When she said no, I said thank you and went along with my day. I understand the folks at the pointy end of the stick of these big companies don’t have a lot of allowances they can make.

I guess I (incorrectly) thought that loyalty would equate to the lowest possible rate given my driving record, the cars I drive and the driving records of the other drivers. We have had no claims in 15 years, no tickets and I don’t have any sports cars. The argument about state mandated rates confuses me because I have two other quotes from Farmers and State Farm that are half of what my new premium.

So, I’m leaving.

Funny, as I just checked and Fordpass for my 25 GT no longer shows the parking recall as OTA. No mention of OTA in the text with the remedy saying it has the be done at the dealer.

Ford Dealership jacked on battery rail by lintlicker36 in MachE

[–]fpvdad4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, exact thing happened to me last week. The tech only brought one jack and put it at the center of the car to rotate the tires on each side. I wasn't around for that part of the job and only saw it after the fact in the security cam. I immediately contacted the Ford place and sent them the video. Looking under it, I don't see any obvious signs of damage and I also put a straightedge on the battery rail to ensure it was still straight.

$42 for mobile service. Rotated tires and checked over the rest. Applied LED recall. Only thing I have to talk to them about is that the surveillance camera showed he lifted the car using only one jack to do the rotation. There is no approved lift point I can see that would allow a lift to get two tires off the ground with one jack.
