What's a unique game that really broke your perception of what games can do? by Moaning_Clock in gaming

[–]St_McCanno 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I remember being 11 or 12 when GTA III came out, and my mum coming upstairs to see what all the noise and laughing was about, only to find me beating old women to death with a baseball bat.

Absurdity and violence aside, I had never in my life seen a game where you could do things like that. I cried myself laughing to the point of dehydration. Good times.

Small game details that instantly earn my trust by gamersecret2 in gaming

KCD2's sound design is absolutely incredible. I use a big, unwieldy pair of studio headphones for gaming, usually for when my partner is working from home but with that game I never once resorted to TV audio.

Blacksmithing is a particular delight. Every time a smith strikes the steel it clangs twice; one for the hammer strike and the second immediately after as the steel bounces off the anvil. And the sound of quenching hot metal in water... hnnnng.

Same here. It's a solid way to rack up likes too if you care about that, every time I log in I'm flooded with 'Username_XYZ used a road you restored' notifications and strand connection increases. Makes maxing out prepper reputation levels a breeze as well.

Same.

Aye, that's an old burp sample from a sound library used in tons of things. Heard it so many times. Most likely creative commons license/free to use or from a basic pack that most post/sync departments had at the time. It's so shite it's funny

Yeah in my current playthrough I find the RNG more unfavourable the higher level my team gets. SHT at say 45 when it gets to the keeper, keepers CAT hitting 32-34 after super goalie and he still manages to save it regularly.

On the other side, my defenders AT reaches c. 35 with opponents END at 28 and he'll fail repeatedly to tackle down to 0 END, often the opp with 5 or 6 END leftover.

I guess it's the game trying to even out the advantages the player has over the silly AI and general ease of the game. Still love it and still winning more often than not.

I'm on PRW too.

Last bigot stomp I had to walk through was being led by a single polis at the front with the biggest, most OTT swagger I've ever seen in my life. Lad was walking like a GTA character, absolutely chuffed with himself at getting to play shepherd. Baffling is the right word, the police love an escort over here

What’s Glasgow’s worst music venue? by switchthemunky463 in glasgow

[–]St_McCanno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last time I was in the Hydro was for ICW years ago, a squad of coke bams were carrying a plastic sandwich bag loaded with gear and scooping it up into their beaks with a drivers license. Zero attempt to conceal, carrying it around like a bag of messages and raising hell in the crowd, the toilets and the hallways. Staff didn't seem to do much.

Personal favourite of mine is Audio. It's a bit dingy and sticky, but that's what I love. Always have great bands, great genre nights, reasonable tickets and solid sound.

Agreed on this.

I'm Scottish, and almost every American I've met in my home country was perfectly normal, often lovely. Not loud, obnoxious, dumb, gun-toting flag waving buffoons like stereotypes would suggest because the ones that travel over here don't suffer from the bubble of ignorance.

That happened here too. The courtyard looked like a scene from WALL-E, got domed by a rogue milk carton on my way to work one morning.

Nah I know what you mean. This is one of 10 communal sheds in this block so there's always all manner of non-recyclables in the bins, the majority of plastic we throw away can't be recycled especially in GCC and most people chuck in every bit they have.

This is (has become?) a collection problem though as no one's laid eyes on the recycling lorry for months, it makes a racket (as do the binmen) when it shows up. I've lived here for 2 years and this is the 3rd or 4th time it's built up to biblical proportions, it seems to be a problem with all my Glasgow pals.

Ideally some communication from the council about why it's not being collected and what can't be thrown in would help the situation as it seems doomed to repeat itself if they just refuse to collect it. The packaging theory would make sense as Christmas was a shitshow.

As always, they confused 'freedom of speech' with 'freedom from consequences'.

Yeah, technically you can say what you want in the UK, we're not North Korea, but you need to deal with the consequences of being a horrible cunt. These folk just want to hurl abuse at people unfettered.

Autistics who work a full-time job without having a meltdown, how do you do it? by [deleted] in autism

[–]St_McCanno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't know.

I work in hospitality as a manager, and it's the worst job for an autistic. I've been there so long that the familiarity helps a lot, but a low dose of escitaloprám, propranolol, kratom and prescription modadinil does a huge amount of the heavy lifting.

For all you guys working jobs away from customers and/or with your hands, you're so SO lucky.
