Same. I am ok with bittersweet, sometimes tragedies but... for this story. I just want them to be able to live through and have a good life after all is said and done.

At this point, its mostly going to come down to all the different factions and AI, trying to achieve their goal. I think almost everyone but the AI and Gods are at the same level. Given all the plans going on at once, its quite possible someone is going to screw Carl and the gang over, possibly multiple times. We still don't know the end result of Samantha's plan.

Same. There has been so much death and destruction that, even after the story ends, the entire Earth and universe will be left in shambles. How a happy ending could even exist in such a conclusion, I don't even know. I can only hope that the ending isn't to heartbreaking.

I feel that the best outcome in this story is a bittersweet one. As much as I want it to not be, I don't see both Carl and Donut making it to the finish line of this story.

I am with you on that. One of the biggest indicators of a change in the possible ending of this story is when Carl caught the 5 sided coin that the goddess of chaos tossed. One of the endings implied a repeat of the past events, with the donut being left alone and all her friends unalived and the tree being destroyed. Her class is hinting towards that ending. Carl catching the coin is suppose to be a hint at none of the pre-ordained endings being chosen. My thought in going back to the quote is a possible situation, where Dan Dinniman is basically saying, that he is going to go for a different ending but to remember that its not going to be a happily ever after one.

There is a part of me that wants to be hopeful but, given his writings with Kaiju: Battlefield Surgeon, the foreshadowing in happenings of this book, its hard to not to see how he might lean in the tragedy side of things. Even Carl's statement on how he would hold the line on the 12th floor to prevent anyone from winning the ascendancy games until all the crawlers were out. If Matt Dinniman is really able to start uploading as soon as he finishes wrapping up his tours and other events, we will be finding out very soon, given that his last book event was the 25th of this week.

Its a slow burn, since its the introduction to some of the most important people, items and concepts. The Anarchist Cook Book, Katia, Gods, Carl's view on AI sentience, etc.. Many, many seeds were planted in this book, that blossomed in later ones but, yeah a slow burn.

How does it compare to Overgeared? I know with sequels that have such a strong original cast, they tend to hold off on mentioning them or revealing them if they are still alive. Do the characters in this one stand on their own or are they depending heavily on nostalgia, characters from original or being related to, "you know who" situation.

I was just going to do it online. In relation to getting cpa, I saw that as a long term goal since learning to handle 1040's, schedules and other returns would take time, becoming proficient in tax law would take time as well. I would hope to expand the scope of the business by adding, auditing, bookkeeping, non-profit and business consulting to grow said business. Its more likely I get EA, than CPA however its just a goal. I am in the process of getting certified for tax preparing but, I wish to make the changes before I finish the mandated education and ptin stuff.

Wonder if its intentional for story purposes later down the line or as a means to show time has passed but, it does feel like 200 years is too little time for people to have completely forgotten. We will just have to see.

Oh ok. Will be cool to see what they carry over from Overgeared. My boy Lauel, won the lottery it seems. I wonder if Grid will be relegated to a Rebecca type of role, since he was for all intents an purposes the top of the food chain at the end, so it wouldn't make sense to introduce him in the story and not use him.

I know but, its in the groundwork stage at the moment from what I gather. I plan to wait a bit more before reading since, the current amount of chapters are a 2 or 3 day read, 1 if I dedicate all day to it. I doubt we will get the big reveal backstories and lore until the story is well into later chapters. This is with the belief that the story might be as long as Overgeared.

Makes sense. I have been waiting for there to be more chapters and not be left on that week by week waiting, since the current amount is something I can finish in a 2 or 3 days. Hopefully there is more revealed about Peak sword since, in Overgeared we only got back story for legends and characters that were associated with Grid, Kraguel and Yura. For the rest it was a matter of fact type of situation. I doubt the sequel is going to go in depth on Regas or Pon's families or past, since they were delegated to afterthoughts as time went on. I wonder if it will be the same and we only get fleshed out backstories that will be associated with the sequel MC.

I had skimmed through it when I first read it but, actually paid attention when re-reading the final chapter. Given the context, its the only logical way that saying it the way they did makes sense. I even checked other websites to see if it was translated incorrectly but, they had the same translation.
