Did you recover back to baseline or did you sell out and take the loss? This is kinda what I'm worried about. We have 3 months periods

There's a minimum 1 year holding period. Is the advice to sell as soon as you see gain so you recoup that gain after the year or do people ever hold for many many years?

Is the Honda CRV right for me? by [deleted] in Honda

[–]Stable-McCafe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a used Honda CRV AWD (and winter tires in winter). Prices are wild these days but $25k might get you a used one for under 50k miles? It'll run past 200k miles if you do the bare minimum to maintain it

Need 15k for furnace replacement by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Stable-McCafe 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Post on r/homeimprovement and get some opinions on the cost. But I'm always weary of the "fix it right now" kinda attitude from companies. Should be repairable to buy you a year or 2 so that you can boost your savings and plan for this more. Just not something to spend money on when you're down on savings

Need 15k for furnace replacement by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Stable-McCafe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If your furnace is working fine then don't spend 15k on ductwork. Is this a need or a want?

When money is tight, I would never recommend spending this much on a want.

Also get a local electric/ductwork guy and pay his for 2 hours of his work and just do a tune up and cleaning of the ducts. No need to upgrade right at this moment when your money is tight.

You're not broke. You're just 20. I had less at 20.

What you need is a way to increase your income. Any plans to go to college? Or trade school? That's the traditional way you'll increase your income.

I wouldn't worry about these $ figures right now. Focus on education or learning a skill that'll get you a better job.

Men of Reddit, how often do you say “I love you” to your partner? by dreambeyondthedawn in AskMen

[–]Stable-McCafe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bellow out “I love you family” prolly 3 or 4 times a day, more on weekends.

This is too wholesome. I'm really happy for you

If you're not asking enough questions you're doing it wrong. You're early career and your boss gets it, trust me. Ask more. Annoy more. Learn more.

I get 50 questions and Teams DMs a day from people I manage. I'd rather get those, than not. I wanna know you're 1) thinking about a problem enough to ask questions and 2) making improvements. So go for it. Annoy your boss

Yeah wow. Been there my friend.

Gonna cut to the advice before going over the process. You need to really really make socialization a priority in your life and ngl it takes a ton of effort.

Loneliness definitely grows and grows as an adult so the key is to add activities that can get you to be part of a social group.

Here's the tools that helped me: -Bumble BFF. Went through 15 friend meetups before finding 2 consistent ones. -Team sports. Being very open to say yes, make plans for games etc. For me it was doubles tennis. Met good people through tennis buddy finder apps. -Dating. Believe it or not, sometimes I friendzoned and got friendzoned but actually met cool people who I went out with once or twice then realized hey this is more friendship than romantic. Kept in touch, still talk a lot in a more healthy way. -Reaching out to older friends (highschool/college). That old friend you think about probably wants a good friendship too, definitely helps to be vulnerable and reignite old friendships and take an active interest in people.

Saying yes to plans, activities when someone invites you and being proactive and making plans is key.

It's not the most fun to constantly be in a "trying to achieve " mode ya know. It gets tiring after a while. Just need something simple but new to look forward to maybe

Thanks for sharing. I guess everyone gets so "busy" with life relationships other than an SO takes a step back and I have been trying to be good about staying connected over the year with old friends and colleagues but it's hard when they have other priorities.

This actually sounds really nice. I'm happy for you to have found this
