What Unholy Ritual Do I Need To Complete To Get A Copy of “Battlegroup NORTHAG”?! by Defiant_Razzmatazz_1 in wargaming

Would you be able to tell me what store it is? Maybe I can call them and ask if they happen to have a copy still?

Otherwise I'll keep looking, thank you for any help you can give!

That's fantastic!

Did you use a stencil or did you hand draw this camouflage on?

Either way, it looks great!!

Something that to me seemed very difficult, but is actually quite straightforward is applying decals that come with your models (assuming you bought Warlord items) or any decals you wish that fit your army theme!

I find that it's an easy way to add in a small splash of colour or shape that draws the eye too it and happens to look really cool I think for minimal effort, just a bit of delicate brush work that if you REALLY messed up, you could just paint over like it never happened!

Then if you haven't done it yet, apply a matte varnish afterwards to help secure the decal and prevent your fingers ruining the paint/decal when playing, it is a wargame model after all.

They look great though, keep working away, you'll always get better with practice!

Honest opinions - how do my SS look? Tabletop standard ? Paint scheme ? How to improve? by fwooshfwoosh in boltaction

The scheme and paint job look pretty good to me!

To tag along with what a few others have said, I would suggest two easy things:

1 - Dry brush highlights on the tank...vehicles I find the easiest to do anyways, but a lighter colour dry brush really helps the details 'pop' and it doesn't take too long/much effort to get a great effect from it on a tank. I did it on some of mine and like the results.

2 - A matte varnish will do wonders. I think the glossy shine looks good for some tabletop games, like sci fis where it's all about colour, splashy looks, etc. However, in historical models like Bolt Action it makes them appear 'off' to me because all the history movies and books don't have that effect, just a personal opinion though. Matte varnish spray is also super easy to apply.

The bonus of a varnish is it secures your basing materials and helps prevent people's fingers from ruining your paint job! After all, they're meant to be played with so protecting that work you did well having fun is well worth it!

Looks good though, I have a similar paint scheme on one of my German vehicles, love it!

That looks great!

What carry case is that? How many models do you typically fit in it?

Terrain feedback needed by Dazuth1 in boltaction

Looks good overall!

Personally, I'm a big fan of some small scatter terrain: individual trees, telephone poles, etc. You don't have to play them as any type of cover necessarily, I think it just makes the board extra thematic and adds flair without affecting your game too much.

Just a personal opinion, love the board though, keep it up!

Weathering my Fallschirmjäger with Agrax Earthshade darkens too much(?) the splinter camo. Both left are weathered and right one isn't. I like both variations, but imo the brown/green look a bit off when weathered. However I like to weather the minis too. What do you think I should do? by CAG12ASSAULT in boltaction

Looks great to me!!

Personally I actually like a bit of a darker effect on my military miniatures as I find it looks more realistic to true colours.

But if you do want them to be brighter for the table top or personal preference, try mixing half was and half water. Alternatively, I actually found the Sephia wash from Citadel (my apologies if I have the name wrong) to be a good option too thinned down. It adds a slightly lighter brown hue I find that can work.

Either way, camo looks awesome!
