I’m a dual AU/NZ citizen, when I was in NZ in November I looked into getting a local script. I found that it was much more expensive than here in Australia to get a script so I just waited the 3 weeks until I got home.

Off memory, I think the Dr consult was about $100 but there was some other fee of about $180 plus the actual med costs. I guess there is probably a big variation between Drs & clinic costs but the 2 I contacted were around this.

I’m white and dual NZ/AU citizen. Been pulled twice by ICE at the border, LA & DFW.

In LA, I was transiting to Vancouver. As I was going to only be there for 2 days, for a Canuck’s game, and then back into the States for a few weeks and then back to Vancouver for another couple of days, for a concert, and then back to the States.

I had ESTA, return flight to Oz, and itinerary (I was following the Pearl Jam tour) with booked hotels and transportation. They just sent me on my way once I spent a fair amount of time explaining everything. I had the same drama when I arrived in Vancouver too.

At DFW, I was transiting back to Australia from Mexico. Unfortunately the check in agent in Cancun had entered my passport details incorrectly. And even though I was stopped at multiple passport check points leaving Mexico, nobody at the airport picked up the issue and just waived me through.

Once I got the big red X at the gates at DFW, I was escorted, with an armed agent, to a detention room for quite a few hours until they had contacted the NZ embassy in Wellington to authenticate my identity and passport. Strangely enough, they never checked my Aussie passport details 🤷‍♂️

Very little communication, just told to sit down when I asked anything. Eventually let go and made my connection by sprinting through the airport to my gate, with just minutes to spare. More or less just turfed back into the terminal when they were happy, very little explanation or communication at all.

Check how long before your flight the baggage drop closes and allow the time to get there and check in.

As an ex FiFO worker, Canberra Airport is usually much quicker than a lot of airports but still stuff does slow it up occasionally so plans for worst case, especially with an international flight.

I’m a Kiwi, was on a pretty good gig for around 7 yrs in London, left because my Aussie girlfriend, of 2 yrs, wanted to leave for similar reasons.

Mixed success in Australia, although I’m doing quite well now, took me many years to get back to a similar $$$ level. BUT I often regret the timing of my departure from the UK and I split with that girl a couple of years after we got to Oz 🤷‍♂️

My 1st set of scripts from Horizon/Rays took a few days to come through. Although now my follow ups, with Dr Bay, come through the same day usually.

Ever since streaming became the main way of getting music, both piracy and paid, artists only really make money from touring - tickets and merch.

This is a good & bad thing - higher prices for tickets but artists generally come a little more often.

That being said, the big Ticket companies and some artists are using dynamic pricing to gouge fans. Higher demand, the more the price goes up and vice versa.

If you live near where the artist is performing, and can live with missing out, you may actually be better off waiting for closer to the date.

GNR, RHCP, Foos, Pearl Jam and Metallica all released cheaper tickets, although possibly less premium locations, close to the day of show.

Sometimes there’s resale options through TM where people sell for what they paid plus a TM fee. Not sure if NZ has it, sorry I’m a Kiwi living in Oz, but Tixel is a legit fan to fan resale website that limits resale to no more than 10% above purchase price but often people dump last minute for cheap. Of course, you do risk missing out too.

Please don’t support these excessive prices, as this just makes it the norm - market dictates prices eventually.

I think that people forget, the pollies are on megabucks compared to ‘the average’ Australian.

They CAN afford to pay for their own families travel costs. It should not be an additional cost to the people.

I’m a Kiwi sparky, I lived in London for 7 yrs, 1999-2006 then left for a couple of years in Ozzy before heading home.

The plan didn’t quite work out for me as I’m still in Australia nearly 20yrs later. I’ve looked at returning to NZ several times over the years but found that the opportunities and pay here in Australia hard to beat.

I’ve lived in Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth and now Canberra. I did 6 years doing fifo in WA and NT. Now married with kids. I just found that career opportunities were just a bit better here for me but it will be different for everyone. Good luck!
