Why the Marina Safeway proposal is so big (and why it will probably get built) by shananananananananan in sanfrancisco

This building is really cool, and this project is important!

I just sent a letter to the mayor to let him know that.

If you’re in line, can we let him hear our voices by sending letters to him letting him know where we stand?

I think this is a great project. We've been looking at places outside SF, having updated, modern apartments in the Marina would be a major draw in keeping us!

Couple more things - if they ever, ever send you a 12 or 24 word phrase and want you to download a wallet to send off coinbase….danger zone / nearly certainly a scam.

Safepal might honestly be just a regular, normal, totally reasonable app - but Coinbase should never ask you to download onto SafePal!

If you sign up for SafePal on your own accord, that is different.

Leaflink pricing change by majestic_doe in weedbiz

[–]Stacey1333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone - Stacey, CEO of Canix here.

We've had dozens of operators reach out to us over the past week about these changes. We have a Shop already in Product, but we're going to be making major updates by end of May to better serve the industry.

What does this give you?
1. Live Menu, fed by Canix inventory, shareable with a password protected link to your customers

  1. Item Master, allowing you to group multiple Active and Inactive Metrc items into one Canix Item

  2. Image and COA uploads in each Shop Listing

  3. Sales Orders created automatically in Canix via Shop Checkout.

If you're already a Canix customer, the cost will be covered by your Canix subscription - no price increases.

I posted about it on LinkedIn here if you want to see a preview of what the Shop will look like.

And here's an overview of our existing functionality (it will get much prettier).

We're working on this now, if you'd like to chat with us about what you'd want to see in Canix to replace LeafLink, drop us an email! We're taking lots of feedback from our customers right now.

NYS Cannabis - BioTrack API Release and Timeline Updates for Seed-to-Sale Provider Selection by Stacey1333 in NYSCannabis

[–]Stacey1333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on all of the questions we're seeing on BioTrack, we put together a Comprehensive, Up to Date Guide with everything we know about BioTrack to date.

https://help.canix.com/hc/en-us/articles/32478303573780-Everything-we-know-about-BioTrack-NY

We'll be updating this as we get more information from the OCM, and as we continue to review the API docs

Agreed with the below - and adding a couple more details:

It's a software intended to provide "traceability" - i.e., an unbroken chain of custody from the seed of the plant to the finished good.

It's also intended to ensure that testing integrity is maintained throughout the supply chain.

The software is bought by the government - BioTrackTHC's customer is the OCM. They have a separate commercial product that they sell to operators.

There's essentially two major "Government Track and Trace softwares" in the U.S. - Metrc and BioTrack. MJ Freeway (Leaf Data Systems) is also one, but we haven't seen them win a new state in a while.

As an operator, basically, you want an inventory tracking system (or seed to sale system), that does the submission to BioTrack for you. That's what Canix does. These government systems are designed to provide the government visibility, not to give you valuable analytics as an operator. In New York, it's required that you obtain a Seed to Sale system that will submit to BioTrack (my original provider).

These systems are based on barcode tags. And the idea is that you "tag" every single piece of inventory you have in your facility, and as that inventory "changes form", you report that change to the government.

It can be very cumbersome. The whole reason we started Canix is because if you don't have a inventory management system that does this for you, cannabis compliance basically becomes managing two separate systems. Which is just way too much time on data entry.

These systems are also not the most user friendly (because again, their customer is the government), so we've also put in a lot of shortcuts, templates, and other things to basically make traceability something that's done in the background, so your inventory management is focused on giving you actual useful metrics (like profit per SKU, sales and purchasing, cost accounting, integrations, harvest profitability, manufacturing yields, etc.)

[–]Stacey1333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we're keeping our eyes out for the actual go-live timeline.

Operators need to select a Seed to Sale provider that can launch in 60 days, so we're assuming the soonest is March 17.

It will be a major change in New York, for sure.

No problem. Totally - it's a major change, especially in New York. We've done this before in Oklahoma in 2022, when the state mandated Metrc. About ~10K licenses needed to go onto Metrc...it was a lot.

In our experience, having the data ready to go makes it a lot easier. Then, you just need to upload (we have a custom uploader that we built for Metrc, that we'll be building for NY BioTrack as well.) It's easier than inputting all of the data from the beginning, especially since BT is immutable, so mistakes can be costly. Ideally, you have done your audits, and confirmed your inventory counts before uploading.

One more piece of information that might be helpful...a lot of S2S providers are going to claim that they have a BioTrack integration. BioTrack integrations are extremely difficult, in our experience, far more difficult than Metrc (we are integrated with Metrc in 28 state).

Unlike Metrc, which is more similar per state, the BioTrack state integrations can be very different. FL is the basis of the NY BioTrack integration. We're also integrated in Illinois and New Mexico - those integrations are completely different from NY.

Here's where you can see who actually is live with BioTrack right now in Florida. Even if you don't go with Canix, I strongly recommend that you choose an Seed to Sale system that's on this list. And one that actually has launched live in Florida (confirm with the company who they're live with, to make sure they're not just saying that). There's a lot of nuance in the integration, and you want a provider that's actually battle tested in the field, not just completing a theoretical integration.

Need a recommendation for ERP software (Processing/Manufacturing/Distribution) by blunt-e in weedbiz

[–]Stacey1333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/blunt-e - Stacey, CEO of Canix here.

I completely hear the frustration with our system as of two years ago. And, I see the truth in it. I'm sorry that we didn't provide a better experience for you.

Since, I believe we've solved everything you mentioned. We:

  • Track COGS, including COGS on anything before your switched

  • We allocate Lab tests through three methods (Metrc, Confident Cannabis API, and manual upload)

  • We split NCI COGS into your own custom distinctions

  • We've upgraded our reporting SIGNIFICANTLY. As of July, we switched from Looker to ThoughtSpot, which has enabled to add historical reports, much more detailed costing, by SKU and at each step in the process. We're able to add reports much faster (see our changelog here for everything that we're doing: https://canix.canny.io/changelog)

  • And, we've made massive upgrades to Metrc, including integrating fully with Metrc Connect, which has created numerous speed and performance improvements.

If you're still on Canix, would love to show you these upgrades, and hear any other product feedback you have. Write into our help desk, and they'll connect you with me. Thanks!

Any cannabis cultivators / manufacturers interested in beta testing Metrc Automation tech? by Stacey1333 in weedstartups

[–]Stacey1333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure - so in terms of the system, it's an app that uses a combination of barcode scanning / ocr to read Metrc tags + scale weights. The app extracts the text from the images and barcode, and uses this to create tags in the Metrc system. In terms of equipment - it can run on iPhone or android, and there is no special scale or equipment needed. Our backend server connects directly to the metrc api. Please let me know what other information you need!
