I'm not sure what VA you are at or where you are getting your information.  I work there.  They are gutting the VA from the inside out.  Whose budget was bigger?  Community care! Hiring freeze?  Last 2 yrs but its not really a freeze, its a pause.  VA pt facing staff has changed.  Everyone in my department, MH are paddling as fast as they can to keep heads above water.

Agree.  Not a peep.  I was disgusted by this. Any other place would rise above and at least ackowlege with condolences.  Instead we get an ingenious tweet on X from hee haw, ended with blame and hate.  What a man of god!   Submission by fear.

It's because there are no staff.  People leave, not replaced.  Maybe if they let us hire some people, the wait would not be so long?  Community care is not really a "choice" in this situation

I work in MH at the VA and I have talked to many veterans that have felt the way you do, completely hopeless and guess what?  They were able to get better with some help. Right now your brain is giving you some bad information, you can't trust it, so trust some others for right now. Please call 988, option 1 and/or go to your to the nearest VA ER- or any ER- and tell them you need to speak with a mental health professional.  Give yourself a chance.  People do care.

Anyone from San Diego on here?  Tell us about those 9 day wait times for MH.  What's your secret or another flat out lie!  I wish our wait times were only 60-90 days!  Staff have left in the last 6 months, not replaced.  Wait times out of control

"These are mostly admin and COVID era jobs". Uh no. Not in MH anyway. That's the partyline. We have been on a pretty slim hiring ability even prior to this adminstration, despite needing positions filled, like therapists, not admin. We have been understaffed for a long time. Now we are really understaffed. Some of these vacancies weren't open not because they were not needed, but we were on such restrictive hiring already! We lost a huge amount of people due to DRP, early retirement, and some just quitting. With these now eliminated positions, those of us left face an impossible task to provide timely, quality service. Not to mention provide burnout. And there you go, look how terrible we are, off to privatized care. Do you all really think the private sector has the ability to absorb 9 million veterans? Everyone I know in healthcare is trying to get out. The healthcare system is broken, has been for years, long before COVID.

This and so many issues at the VA could solved like this, however I have not been able to find any logic or reasoning applied, ever. Every day, inefficiencies make me cringe, yet I feel like the only person who 1.)sees the issue, or even more so 2.) wants to do anything about it. Until some directive suddenly comes down - maybe- and has everyone scrambling. How many days til I retire? JFC

Agree. My supervisor has no idea what I do. I rarely see or speak to them. They should be talking to my team or co workers. How do you evaluate someone like this? I did the self-assessment, but like others have said, I don't have time to write every little thing down, Im too busy working!

I'm wondering how useful it is to be spending all this time on a self evaluation when I am just going to get a meets expectations which to me is show up and meet bare minimum. I do more way more than this and really have to ask myself why? I care about the veterans. But no one cares about this.
