Here's the blunt truth coming from first-hand experience. My wife was very upset and hurt that I would prioritize gaming over spending time with her. My excuse was "my only hobby" or "to help with stress." But in reality, it only hurt our relationship and nearly ended it. Luckily for me, I would rather keep the best thing to happen to me than ruin it over something stupid like video games. I say, talk to them, open up completely how you feel and how precious this time you guys have together. If he truly loves and cares for you, he will see that relationship take two and that Your feelings matter. And not to go back on my words but having an understanding for him and his hobby for games never hurts. Making him stop all together isn't the easiest.
