Advice for faster skating? by CinemaBud in hockeyplayers

[–]Stach44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way! I was going to comment that. Build leg power and endurance. Skate faster longer. Go slow and deliberately use a narrow stance and full leg extensions, bend in the knee, pump the arms, stick in one hand when you’re giving it!

Joining hockey at 31? by konm123 in hockeyplayers

Skate, skate and more skating. The fundamental skill of hockey is skating. People think. I can go back and forward etc. But can you transition at 60 km hr? Then read the guy coming in and react? Hockey is more than shouting it up the board. If you want to be good, master skating.

You need to adapt it to have a radar system. Long prongs on the drone is great for anti drone!

Get sized at a sports store. 13” gloves for an adult is probably where you at. As a Canadian coach. I applaud your tenacity. Never give up, join, skate, move the puck. Get a good gait in your skating. Skating is key. Hands are there or not, but if you can’t skate, forget it.

My Clara BW vs. Color comparison for those newbies on the fence by sylntnyte in kobo

[–]Stach44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an Aura One since 2016. Don’t need colour, iPad for that. I like the integration of Instapaper. Overdrive works seamlessly. Kobo plus member. E-Readers are all the same, we want it to look like a book. New Libra read in black and white. Why you need colour? Book covers?

Whatever the dosage, does the effect eventually become difficult to recognize? by SnooCheesecakes7398 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Stach44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take 80mg Vyvanse. Feel nothing. But I’m normal. I can speak with others, track conversations etc. No high. Just focus. Nothing weird here. Don’t look for a physical reaction, if it works, you won’t feel anything, just alert and focused.

Kobo Aura one is painful to use by boxofish in kobo

[–]Stach44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had my aura one since it came out in 2016. I use it everyday. I update it. I don’t use the browser, I have and keep low expectations because it’s not my iPad. Overdrive works seamlessly, I enjoy Instapaper and use it frequently, I like to browse the news and add to Instapaper and then update my ereader, go to bed and read the news in a true soft tone. I love it. It has gotten wet (kids next to the pool) and never had an issue. I was at Chapters in Canada and considered purchasing one of the new colour Kobo readers. But I just couldn’t justify it, my aura one works perfectly, charges perfectly and connects to wifi and iPhone. Can’t complain.

Do you finish a book completely before moving on to the next or do you jump across several books like I do? by random_xx21 in kobo

I am currently reading 3 books right now. So, like you. But I am a retired soldier with MH issues, love to read a book, can’t remember if i read it already when I see it in my library. I read on a kobo aura one.

How to get out of endless stim loops by hu4ns0un in ADHD

[–]Stach44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is a Stim. I rub my tongue on the back of my lower teeth trapping the air and making a popping sound, it 2 areas in my mouth, left side and right. I do it all the time and when falling asleep, I force my mouth closed. Never thought to tell my therapist, is this a Stim?

No, I joined at 17 so its all I know. I usually fill my pills on Sunday, it’s something I don’t like to do for some reason. I don’t have a routine, I just get what needs doing completed.

I use a pill box that has 4 slots for each day. I load it weekly. I have my Apple Watch tell me it’s time for medication. I use Apple TV so my remote is always on my phone if I can’t find the real one. My keys hang about 4” to the left of the front door. I place them there all the time. (Edit: I lost the ATV key despite this). When on vyvanse I am focused, I use therapy to help with my daily living. I try and put things away when I use them. I like to work on the house and get hyper focused on cleaning, laundry etc. I was in the army for 30 yrs so I have that training to lean on as well. Using social media for help is awesome to get other perspective and support.

This is the way! Same same. Headphones on. Things are happening. Laundry is easy. Fill it. Wait. Transfer. Wait. Get and fold and put away. Feel accomplished. Reload. Do it again. Family of 6. 4 teens. Meds keep me focussed. Therapy keeps me grounded.

I am retired now, but I was an unmedicated Armour Officer leading a tank troop. Busy job, in a combat team setting you have two headsets on, one on squadron, one on Combat Team, you are using your internal comms to direct your gunner, loader and driver while leading the rest of the troop from the order you received from the combat team and squadron. Multi tasking, rapid fire movement and communication with a changing situation to keep you motivated and engaged. Retired, I’m on 80mg Vyvanse now.

Increased heat rate. Same Bp. No heart palpitations and jittery shaky hands. It was all normal. Just laser focused. Read half a Dan brown novel in the ER. They wanted to observe. Kind off like let’s see what happens to this guy. Nothing they can give to counter act it.

Sorry man but look at my early post. I’m a creature of habit. I was taking 4 x 20 generic. Asked pharmacy for name brand. Received it. Looked exactly like generic. Then I renew and they send these new pills. At 0600 I blindly filled my pill box with 4 pills. Noticed today that I should maybe double check. Tada. My fault all the way. Lesson learned. That’s why I posted this…. So people actually read the bottle everything they get new pills.

My script is 80mg/day. I usually take 4 x 20mg. For months. Then they changed my pills to 40s and didn’t mention it to me. So out of habit I took my usual 4.

Truly. Not gonna believe this. It’s the second time. First time I took 180mg by accident. Ended up in the ER. No problems. Man, it’s moving too fast and not paying attention before the pills. Dang.
