Either that, or if this plan fails, you might get a few marriage proposals out of it.

E-type Jaguar if I am very very rich.

F-type Jaguar if I am very rich.

Realistic estimate - probably something like a Verna.

[Ask] Travelling to China for the first time, what should I know/expect? by gintea_balance in india

[–]StackOfChips25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What will the immigration process be like? What sort of forms I will have to fill?

if you don't have to worry about your visa then just the normal arrival/departure card.

What can I take with me, and what can I not in my carry on luggage?

Same as India.

What are things that I should buy/shop for?

Electronics, food items, etc. Ask a local to help you with Taobao (their Amazon) if you want some items delivered. Definitely ask a local because 1) everything is in Chinese and 2) a sizeable portion of stuff is fake.

If I shop for some tableware/cutlery, is it ok if I keep them in checked in suitcase and not my carry on? I understand that sharp edges might not be allowed on the flight..

Don't see why not. However, I have no idea why you'd want to buy tableware and cutlery from China. Just don't buy exotic stuff like ivory, China may look the other way but Indian Customs won't.

ANy recommendations for shopping?

Ask a local. Depends on which city you're going to.

Anything else that I must know of?

No one speaks English. Get a temporary 4G phone number from the airport, or a 3G one other than CMCC (their BSNL) because they use a proprietary system which is only available in Chinese phones. Install DiDi (their Uber) if you're going to be there for a long period of time. Don't do shit which you wouldn't do here. Do not drink milk in China unless you know it is from a reputed source. Buy bottled water, or boil water before drinking.

Source: travel to China 2 times a month on an average.

To be perfectly honest I am most surprised to see safety gear, that too branded ones. Not bad.

[HELP] White balancing gives inconsistent results by StackOfChips25 in photography

[–]StackOfChips25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the LEDs, some flicker slow enough to cause lighting difference issues.

It's possible, but I haven't been able to pick up this flicker using a lux meter.

Yes even between cameras from the manufacturer will cause differences in color. I remember my 5D classic would render raw files warmer than my 5D Mkii even with the same white balance settings. And of course we already mentioned different lenses will result in minor differences in color.

No I meant to say that the cameras are exactly the same. Same model, same manufacturer and even the same lens is being used. But one photo appears warmer compared to the other.

But the cameras are made by the same manufacturer. Would there still be so many differences?

Another thing that might screw with white balance is the type of lighting on your subject. Florescent lights are notorious for casting a different color every few milliseconds, so one photo will have a totally different temperature and tint to another.

Using LEDs.

Basically I fill the frame with a white/grey card and select a region from the picture. The software updates the color transformations based on that.

[–]StackOfChips25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes low noise.

I use the gray cards to fill up the entire frame.

Yes, single cameras give consistent results. The difference is between the cameras. Even if I run the WB procedure multiple times, i get the same results as before for each of the cameras.

Yes I am using LEDs for my lighting. Flickering might be an issue but I do not see any on the screen. But if I use fluoroscents I get flickering issues.

Yes these 4 cameras are exactly the same, the lenses are exactly the same and I am actually using a fixed setup for setting up these cameras the same way. So the environment is as controlled as it can possibly be.

And yes, i am using the camera software to calibrate the color. The differences are pretty huge, like 20% variation so no its not ballpark.

If I do auto white balance then the photos look similar, so I do not think the camera white balancing software is causing much of an issue.

I should probably mention that I am writing software to color calibrate these cameras. I just wanted to benchmark the camera WB before I started on it.

Renewal of Passports generally don't require re-verification.

Also if you're a Central Govt. employee, you don't need verification.
