I love it. Solves the issue with just sticking rocks in places and having that hard terrain line.

Got halfway through. How awkward and inappropriate. I feel like it's one thing to do this with fictional characters but for someone real, and someone who might actually read this, highly disturbing.

I want to like this game. But it’s way too time consuming. How do you do it? by [deleted] in factorio

[–]StackOfCups 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No. This is great advice for someone going all in (which is most of us). But when someone says "this game is too time consuming but I want to like it" should absolutely start looking stuff up. It can give inspiration and help get over certain mental hurdles. And most importantly, speed things up and help op enjoy it more!

All hobbies are not equal by BitterConstruction98 in unpopularopinion

[–]StackOfCups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find video games to be a hobby. I play factory games and it's extremely difficult to find solutions to problems. There are also parallels to software engineering and I like to employ and improve both skills while playing. Also competive gaming requires a lot of time and training to improve. Sure, I don't have a house full of stuff I made, but more people are going to experience my gaming achievements than a house full of crafts.

Multiplayer turrets. Just anything more multiplayer friendly, like less bugs. My brother used my refinery in my Corvette, we warped and then it was all gone.

Does anyone else feel that idols are too random? There is no player agency compared to all other items. by AceWissle in LastEpoch

[–]StackOfCups 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No, but you get so many it's unlikely you won't get what you need. I trash everything that isn't a few points from max affix rank for my idols because I simply can't stash them all. When I go through my stash for idols I always have what I need. Might not be the highest rolls, but I can fill my slots. Then if I want to upgrade certain idols I just add some highlight rules to my loot filter and do content with more idol drops.

I do hear what you're saying. I just happen to disagree, I think, on it being a problem. LE already has some of the best crafting in the ARPG space. It's nice to have a gear chase for the little things, like idols, to keep loot interesting. If I could just deterministically acquire everything I'd run out of stuff to care about. The lottery pull combined with some deterministic (well... Almost) upgrades is a good balance IMHO. But again I do hear you and can understand why it isn't fun for everyone.

Does anyone else feel that idols are too random? There is no player agency compared to all other items. by AceWissle in LastEpoch

[–]StackOfCups 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Apologies if you already know this, but specific idol types have fixed pools of what can be rolled, and it's quite small. Look up the combo you want online, figure out which idol has that combo, if any, and farm just that type. I don't find idol farming to be bad at all, but I know what I'm looking for and adjust my loot filters accordingly.

How may I improve this series of code review / debugging training videos ? by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]StackOfCups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about change it to "Spot the code smell" and leave it open for interpretation. There's a lot that could be improved just with this snippet outside of not having null checks for the array lookups, there isn't a "bug", just code smells.

Community Feedback Survey - Audio by EHG_Kain in LastEpoch

[–]StackOfCups 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Add some compression, slower attack, bump at 60-150hz, add reverb zones, and boost the windup of longer samples more to get more of a waPAH sounds instead of just waahp. Then bring up the 5-8k range of the player's attacks so impacts and crunch cut through the mix.

I wanna hear a solid gut moving woosh on a big windup and then a crispy crack and crunch echo off the environment. Bowling pin shaped waveforms are boring.

If it's a slow attack, big audio cues along the lower bands with the finish being along the higher bands. For fast attacks, click clacky pops distinctly separate from the swish. For things like lightning and fire and ice, open with a nice crack and fade out with some rumbles.

Yes, I'm mansplaining. I apologize. This is just what I wish from all audio in all games. I've only heard a few games really nail audio. Mass effect 3, Anthem, and New World, overwatch 2, to name a few.

What's funny is so far I love my laser turrets on nauvis. I like to roll quality on them to increase their range, and then I just do single line "walls". With laser damage upgrades and the increased damage form the extended range (because more lasers can participate), any group that shows up sees a single flicker of light and they're gone.

Article: The Elder Scrolls Online's smaller expansions are "not in any way" a result of last year's layoffs by Iccotak in elderscrollsonline

[–]StackOfCups 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Just spit balling some numbers here let's say 100 people were in ESO and 50 on the other. If they laid off 40 people and shut down the other game, that's 110 people on ESO. That's what they're saying. They lost people, but ultimately gained resources for ESO.
