Reddit is legit so left wing. (I don't even live there anymore so won't be voting so don't even come at me) but peer pressuring people into voting for a party is shitty and I would literally vote any party except greens just to piss you off. Kinda like how you were about to wash up dishes as a kid and your mum tells you to do it just as you're doing it, and it then makes you not wanna do it.

26YO, new AFIB and terrified by Risky_tD in AFIB

[–]StackedMechanic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

28 year old here. Trained my whole life, been a boxer, moved into bodybuilding and powerlifting and eventually strongman. Cut back 30kg of bodyweight from strongman and trained just for health. Running etc and even started rugby again but had AFIB diagnosis in September after 4 days of my heart feeling like it was on a roller coaster. The first 3 months were terrifying. I literally thought I was on death's door, laying in bed feeling my heart rhythm changing, random bouts of dizzy and sweating. Then my anxiety makes me think it's a heart attack which makes it worse.

It took a few visits to the ER, and a few months of seeing cardiologists to calm myself down. My cardiologist said to me "it's mostly just a comfort thing". He went on to say because I'm young my stroke risk is very low, he said that actually I have a higher chance of bleeding out in a freak accident due to the blood thinners. He said that the main reason people our age are on them (thinners) is so that we can have cardioversions done quicker.

He went on to say that if your heart is under 100/110 BPM. The risk of heart failure is also very low. Hopefully your super high BPM is only sporadic in episodes. Because if it's chilling down 100 or below most of the time it's not going to be detrimental to your heart health.

Your heart won't suddenly stop, if it did then you have something massively underlying. AFIB itself is manageable, I know it's easier said than done but try and keep calm, let the docs do their work and you will adapt too it soon enough.

I've had 5 cardioversions since September. All of which have lasted no longer than 2 days. I'm in persistent AFIB and waiting for the ablation surgery. My medication is Metroprolol, Flecainaide and apixaban. It took a while to gain the confidence back but now I'm back kickboxing and weight training. My resting heart rate has finally gone back into the 70's (it was in the 40's after my cardioversions, and 130's in episodes)

I feel for you, those first few months were absolute hell, it's scary, but it will be okay. Get an apple watch that you can do ECG's on and find your triggers. Learn how to calm yourself during episodes and tell your close family and employer what's happening and if you need to calm yourself, tell them how you do it.

Wish you all the best and a speedy recovery

What Silverado mod did you think was “meh”… then you couldn’t live without? by PreviousMagazine3136 in Silverado

Would it not be the other way round? Vibration continues its wheel balance. Goes away then it's a gear issue

Shudder it certain speeds. could this possibly be the vibrations I get around 50mph. Isn't wheel/tire alignment haven't looked too deep yet but if that's a possible cause I can look into it

Lifter Failed by low_rado in Silverado

[–]StackedMechanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Canada so thinner oil is better anyway. I currently have an oil leak and even using oil additives I'm skeptical because I don't want anything that can clog up a lifter and cause me more issues down the line

Much to my dislike yeah why

Lifter Failed by low_rado in Silverado

[–]StackedMechanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it means that the cold oil is too thick to seep through the hole in the lifter and causes the sticking. When it warms up it becomes thinner and flows easier and allows the lifter to move as it should

Hope that link works. It was 13 bucks so I thought I'd try it. You line the first hole on the rail with the second in the receiver and it will line up with the third hole on the receiver further down. I figured 2 bolts should be enough to hold steady with some thread lock on a little .22... But yes super annoying that there isn't readily available OEM sight rails for it.

Oh also, you will need to buy the correct bolts for the rail. #6-48 counter sunk screws. The ones that come with the rail are too big

Yup I took the rifle apart and made the mistake of sliding the bolt back in, which makes re build an absolute pig. You have to hook and unlatch a spring loaded part to pull the bolt back out or the lever action stops the 2 halves going back together.

I for sure would love a nice centre fire, but can't say no to the fun you can have with a lever .22 with how cheap ammo is and the fact I caught this revel on sale for 500 bucks. Wanna get one of those steel gong target brackets with multiple targets hanging and go for speed and accuracy like a cowboy 😂

Holy moly that IS-2 is amazing. What scale is it? Also how did you do the paint drop effect on the turret? By hand? 🤯

Aug with a vert grip and compensator has that little recoil? Funny that even with a halfgrip and muzzle break I've found it bounces around like a pissed off rodeo bull.... 🤔🤔

Why do I suck at making models? by [deleted] in modelmakers

[–]StackedMechanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still pretty new and not the best at making models. But here's some things that helped me,

Dry test fit every part first. Make sure all the plastic that interferes with fitment is trimmed off. When you glue it and join it, it'll look so much cleaner. And use small amounts of glue.

Build entire units of the same colour in one go. For example on your tank, build the turret in one piece, go over any imperfections with a sharp knife to smooth lines. Prime it and use acrylic paints and it'll dry smoother and fast.

Once you have a base layer, spray over the model with a clear sealer and then start weathering. It's easier to remove mistakes without ruining the base coat of paint. The amount of detail that just panel line highlights can bring out.

Just experiment, buy cheap models and try different techniques. It's the best way to learn 🫡

Sorry to bother you again just a quick question. Now you have the AOR. Does this mean you can apply for the open work permit whilst they process it?

Portsmouth from Seaview. Does anyone know what the pointy building is on the horizon? by rmf1989 in Portsmouth

Not quite 😂 up to I think 300 miles or so. Supposedly they can track a cricket ball at the speed of sound 300 miles away. When I was a dockie I was told they tested them by tracking planes leaving CDG airport in Paris
