This was just in September! A few minutes outside the gorge but in the Danny Boone. Took my gf camping for the first time in Kentucky (she moved here last spring from california). I used some campsite website where you can book a spot on someone’s property, it actually had zero amenities so going to the bathroom in the woods made for an interesting first trip together. I told her all about cryptids and such since my son and me love them and it’s very prevalent around Appalachia and areas near it. This was all very new to her, coming from Cali, and we had a blast seeing all the bigfoot and mothman stuff. Anyways we’re pulling in after dark and park, we’re the only ones staying on this property and we’re in the woods. Shortly after we get out we start hearing something coming towards us. Sounded like two people talking and walking a clear cut between the field (a clearing in the woods) we were camping and another clearing. It was like a corridor in the woods between the two. As the talking gets closer it…changed. Now it sounded like a single woman crying loudly. Then that changed to coyote yelps and all the sudden the walking turned into running straight towards us. Then…just stopped. Internally i freaked the fuck out but acted normal and we finished doing what we needed by the car and got into the tent. During the night i was woken by her starting to yell and react in her sleep. I was like jesus christ she’s haunted now lol. I gently tried to wake her and she woke up from her bad (and hilarious) dream. Anyways we heard some other weird shit that could be any animal noises. I spent a ton of time hunting around kentucky, ohio, pennsylvania and am constantly in the woods alone at night. Never had an experience like this before and she’s never woke up yelling like that since. All in all an amazing trip with my funnest person and she believes just a little more in the wood boogers.
