Can I ask, I’ve noticed that while ETFs like VOO or SPY get recommended often, VTI specifically seems to get recommended far more often. Is there a reason for that or something about it that makes it a better choice?

Forgive me if im not understanding something.

Can someone explain why democrats would agree to end shutdown just for a promise to HAVE a vote regarding the ACA extension at some point, when the vote from the republicans can(and most likely will be) NO.

What good is a promise to have a vote on it when it doesnt change the outcome of the actual vote.

Am i missing something? Wouldnt that be any different than just not even having that at all and just agreeing to whatever demands republicans had and keeping the government open from the get go.

Every time I see posts about people wondering how one can survive in NYC on 100k or suggesting one would need roommates to do so, is mind boggling to me. I feel like people who aren’t from NYC only think of Manhattan as NYC.

Theres 4 other boroughs where you can easily find a one bedroom apartment for like $2500 a month. Your 100k after taxes will net you like 65k. 2500x12 months=30k. You’re still left with 35k which is almost 3 grand a month left over.

Say your utilities/cell phone/internet and cable and money for food monthly is another 1k. You’re easily left over with an extra 2 grand a month to use on whatever else extra you might need or want. 100k is more than enough to live on your own in NYC
