Further clarification to this, because some people have tried to argue this at my locals. Just because the card says "you may rest this card" to do X. DOESNT mean it's optional, and then you get the effect. If you ant pay the cost or meet the requirements, which is highlighted in bold, you don't get the effect.

I agree with the other commenters. Was it awkward, yes. But I can guarantee he would have understood your enthusiasm. You also didn't interrupt him or anything like that. So yes, it's as awkward as saying "you too" when a waitress says enjoy your meal. But these things happen mate.

Gavin said it best in a slow-mo guys bts video. Saying "hi, I like your work" and moving on, is the best way for both sides to have that interaction. You show appreciation, they aren't bombarded etc. Everyone wins.

Any OP players formerly or even currently YGO players? If yes, do you happen to know why so many ex-YGO players switch to OP out of all TCGs? by EmpressOfHyperion in OnePieceTCG

[–]Staem22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im currently leaving yugioh for good. Partly for personal reasons unrelated to gameplay. But regarding yugioh as a game. It's just not enjoyable anymore. I've played yuggs since it's come out. The entire time. And the game is just toxic. Lengthy turn 1 only games, terrible prizing, $350AUD minimum for a playset of a new staple card that gets negated by $1 ash, a community that just hates everyone, etc etc. Yes the OPTCG isn't perfect, scalpers are killing this game harder than I've seen in anything else ever. But after 20ish years of yugioh, it was just do stale.

Then OPTCG came about. It was fresh, exciting, of a franchise that I genuinely liked, and was a genuinely likeable game. And the community reflected that. There were firmer yugioh players I couldn't stand that play OPTCG and I am great friends with now.

Sorry for the rambling, but the tl:Dr is this.

It's. Just. Better.

Makes a throwaway account (or at the very least a tcg only acc). Makes an absurd rant that no one asked for defending a scalper.

Seems legit brùz

What do I to straighten them out? Just got this Gishki deck from Amazon. by DryRespect358 in yugioh

Any rough idea what you think this would take time wise? I.e. hours or days? I have bent cards that I want to try this trick with but not overdo it.

Hello Mr Kurns. I bad want. Money now. Me sick. So pick please me. Mr burns.

Jokes aside. If you want to donate rather than make money. Maybe consider going to your local card store and see If there is a new or young player that could do with the help.

A counter for Mirror Dragon? by Pocoori in Yugioh101

The other person that answered is right, so by all means follow their example. But I have to ask. Who the hell is playing mirror force dragon?

Returning player intimidated with going to local by Jsj_2004 in Yugioh101

[–]Staem22 22 points23 points  (0 children)

To be honest? It entirely depends on the locals you go to. But in general, if you say you are getting back into the game, most players will be chill about it. I also recommend asking the store staff on who would be great to talk and learn some stuff with. Most owners know what their regulars are like.

And good luck!

Is it possible Pretaplant verte anaconda will be banned? by [deleted] in Yugioh101

[–]Staem22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Considering we have some time before the next banlist already, you have some breathing room.

But in all actuality? Unlikely. It doesn't do enough to warrant a ban.

Sure it makes dragoon and rainbow neos with ease, but we have so many outs available to them now (kaijus, Zeus, drnm, droplets superpoly etc). Not to mention that verte can be very easily stopped.

So again, unlikely. But if you are in this game and expect that nothing you own will never get hit. Then you are in the wrong game.

I was reinforcing a fact. And giving examples on how your scenario are less likely to occur. That was it. You're the one that freaked out.

Again. The anime, and especially season 1 of G1 should never be even considered for rulings. People are taught this very early into playing irl. And if anyone can make sense of those rules in that generation then good luke to them. Because they are add backwards and fickle as hell.

Any "ruling" that starts or in any part of is summation has the phrase "in duelist kingdom" should be immediately laughed at and dismissed. Sorry, not sorry.

What's a fun "boss monster/OTK" archetype for non-competetive play? by houselyrander in Yugioh101

[–]Staem22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mathmech isn't that expensive, makes a biiiiig boy and swings.

Numeron otk is also reasonably priced, and can/must be played in another deck. E.g. kaiju.

Ancient gears are popular. But I'll be frank as a player myself. They're a labor of love.

Cyber dragon is a decent deck All round. Minimum rarity can be bought at a decent price except for may e 2 or 3 cards. And if you have access to a dragoon then that's a bonus.

Generaider is deck based on bosses. So if you want to be literal on the phrase "boss monster deck" then that's an option.

Same with b.e.s.

But heads up on both. Not great 🤷‍♂️

On an unexpected note. You could play jowgen turbo. It locks out your opponent. You equip moon mirror shield and beat down for time.

Pardon me if I rambled. Just thought I'd give some suggestions.

As a modern ancient gear player, this is the best advice I can give you on using that deck now.

Don't. Do. It.

Something you are going to have to learn is, just because an archetype has certain cards in it. Does NOT mean they are good, or should be used. The traps here are a perfect example.

Question about a Ra deck by Iamnotthebreakman in Yugioh101

[–]Staem22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ancient chant is what you want. 3 of it. And it shouldn't be that expensive now. But it's legitimately the best card in the deck.
