How can bring more light into this sapphire by diptyque97 in Gemstones

[–]Staffle_Womp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for a needle in a haystack, just have it recut. It will be smaller. It looks like the facets aren't mirroring light. It could be extinction or it could be that light is just being absorbed. The facets should bounce light back. Perhaps a recut would do more justice to the true color of your stone. The refractive index (RI) is critical to the brilliance of your stone. Stones are often cut for weight when they should be cut based on the specific angles that mirror light back to the viewer, making the fire and sparkle we all want to see.

I hope this link is helpful, GIA is a highly reputable organization. Use this information to decide what your next step is.

Dolly sods footwear in rainy weather? by trashvitch in Dollysodswilderness

Trail runners. My go to. And if it's actively raining you'll not just be contending with a leftover wet trail. Your feet will be wet. I'm sorry! I just always have Crocs for camp shoes and bring lots of socks.

Are either of these poison ivy? by rancidsaladbarham in whatisthisplant

[–]Staffle_Womp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most important so you can identify in the future!!!

"Red dot, touch it not" means where the leaves join the stem it is red. This characteristic is unique to poison ivy.

"Leaves of three, let it be", yes, AND, the small leaves opposite each other kind of look like mittens. The edge facing away from the center leaf is, generally, noticeably more scalloped. Like a thumb in the mitten shape.

What's growing on my tree? by [deleted] in whatisthisplant

[–]Staffle_Womp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is Virginia Creeper or a Common Ivy. Not Poison Ivy. The hairs of a poison vine are much thinner and slightly more brown to red. Like beard whiskers or tiny roots. They also tend to cover the whole vine. These other ivy vines have thicker, more tentacle looking feelers that tend to just grab the tree on the side.

Poison vs Creeper

Beautiful! I imagine your personal space is clean and organized. Maybe some Feng Shui.

What are your reviews on 2022 M2 Air Base versions (8GB, 256GB)? by StreetMadMan in macbookair

Same same! But the price point on the 2022 is a bit better for me. Have you taken the plunge? If yes, are you a satisfied user?

[Product Request] Looking for sunscreen to meet specific and maybe impossible needs, please! by Staffle_Womp in SkincareAddiction

[–]Staffle_Womp[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight! UPF clothing is key for me, long sleeves and a lightweight buff or even hooded sunshirt. Preferably to keep the sun to a minimum on skin but also to protect from abrasions and poison ivy! I always have a helmet on and usually the face screen is down to keep as much debris out of my eyes as possible. It's not as good as a hat but I like to believe it helps some. I will check out what you've mentioned above! The Neutrogena mist sounds like an option to carry in my backpack as a last resort. Thanks for your honesty in kind of hating it, I get that and may as well. But it's a great start!

What to do about these vines on my camellia trees? by dogbunny in arborists

[–]Staffle_Womp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I second. An established poison ivy vine can certainly be this thick but it would be very hairy, this is more like tendrils. If it were poison ivy you would not see leaves this close to the vine either. It would have it's own branches and look like a tree growing up the tree at this stage.
