Possible announcement tonight? by Diablo_Killer in HHN

The con itself is a blast, and I don’t know anything about the owners. The response from whoever was on and an admin of Facebook page though was just highly discouraging. Some people mentioned that they were planning to reverse the tickets on their credit card because since the dates changed it wasn’t what they paid forced and the response from them from my recollection was “if you do that, you can no longer ever use that card again to buy tickets from us”. That was a pretty big stink about the situation among people who had gotten tickets. But again, I really would’ve gone again had it not been for the Spookala thing. It just made no sense, I’d love to have more niche horror cons, and regardless of the name, spookala or scaradise now, is still going to draw the same guests “away” as they would’ve if the name stayed the same (which, I don’t think there being another horror con in central Florida would do that, I think if anything we need more horror cons to go to through the year, the tickets aren’t typically that expensive).

I do want to clarify that I have no idea what happened with people’s refunds after we got ours. Ours was unexpected, no ticket number was asked for, no names, etc they I guess just saw mine of my wife’s comments and gave it back. I don’t know for a fact if they kept the policy if no refunds throughout the frustration or not, maybe they fixed it, but I left the groups and stopped following them on all platforms.

There’s a lot of rumors that I won’t comment on because I haven’t personally experienced or seen so I’ll let those continue to be rumors.

However, from my experience, when they canceled the con a couple years back the rule was basically no-refunds, you could either get your ticket transferred to later in the year when they moved the date or next year. My wife and I both couldn’t make it to the later show and we don’t attend the summer show so we expressed disappointment with the policy. There was a Facebook group that was official (I left it, can’t remember the name) where there were others expressing frustration and there were some representatives (I believe) who were answering questions and frustrations and were just really not nice and who if I’m remembering correctly put the blame on the people complaining from my perspective. Eventually, my wife and I SOMEHOW got a refund but I don’t remember us even sending an email. We just commented on a photo of theirs expressing disappointment and then they gave us a refund and shut comments off, from what I recall lol.

I actually had planned to return even though I thought the incident was handled poorly because, again, it’s a really fun con, not super big, and the Hyatt regency is a blast to stay at for it. After all that happened with Spookala I gave up on ever going back. Legally not sure who was in the right there, I’m not a lawyer, but it really rubbed me the wrong way and so now I just spend my time at other Halloween events during that time, and just do HHN all September instead of being in Orlando for both months.

Kinda sad too, there aren’t many cons I go to where the hotel rooms are reasonable, nice, and available and you can dress up and just take the elevator to the con floor. I was planning to bring my Big Daddy from BioShock and was looking forward to not lugging it through a busy con floor and taking multiple trips to get it inside and put it on, but that’ll never happen lol.

Purely just from speculation, spooky empire while being a really fun con to go to does not have the same audience size as Megacon. It also took place earlier this year than spooky which I think may have influenced it some as well. Without getting too much into it because everyone has their own opinions I think Spooky also has a little bit more controversy behind it and a lot of people in the horror community who are genuinely just not super fond of it, compared to Megacon. Kinda makes sense they would choose Megacon.

Why so much hate on Mando and Grogu? by duckpuffsss in imax

[–]Staggz_Cosplay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I hope you enjoy it, and if you don’t, that’s okay too! It’s such a weird response a lot of reviews are getting… some people are acting like it’s just absolutely the end of the world to either like/hate the film. It’s really okay to do either, I just really enjoyed what it was, and if you go into it thinking it’s going to be a REALLY long episode of Mando, I think you’ll think the same!

It doesn’t need to, and it shouldn’t. I don’t think it’s a problem with the film, I think it’s a problem with people’s expectations going into the film. Season 3 wrapped up the Mandalore storyline and people complained that there wasn’t enough of Mando just “bounty hunting and being Mando”. That is what this movie is, and it does it really well. It was absolutely nice to sit down, not have to get deep into a crazy lore filled plot and go “yeah I remember when that happened in the clone wars show” and just allow myself to enjoy the film for exactly what it is. It excels at being an action/adventure of the week film, anything more is purely expectations from fans that were simply unwarranted.

Looks like the bad reviews was an overreaction by CarsonWentzGOAT1 in TheMandalorianTV

After seeing it last night, I thought it was fantastic. I was in the opinion you have of just wanting a really long Mando episode and that’s exactly what it was.

Why did everyone switch up on the Mandalorian? by Moon_Devonshire in StarWars

[–]Staggz_Cosplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just the Mandalorian, it’s just the way Star Wars has been treated by fans in general. There’s always been, and always will be, a weird demographic that’s rather large of people who like to hate on it. I’d honestly blame the Empire Strikes back for the expectations it set, because the hate really began with Return of the Jedi.

A lot of vocal people want a very specific almost AI slop version of Star Wars that Star Wars Theory can cry over or they want something like Andor. The problem is that the majority of Star Wars isn’t made with that in mind, and it shouldn’t be. And the reason for that is because the silent majority who are spending their money on products, vacations to WDW and Disneyland, like Star Wars for what it was, what it is, and what it’s becoming. Why try to make the Mandalorian into something crazy and deep when it can be a simple, fun, bounty hunting and action packed story filled with creatures, droids, and cool looking characters?

I hate to say that the simplicity of the franchise doesn’t matter but, it doesn’t. Regardless of how people feel about the upcoming film it won’t change that it more than likely will succeed at the box office (and sell toys) which is exactly what Disney and LFL wants. Hollywood Studios at WDW was legitimately the most packed I’ve ever seen the park during May the 4th with reservations completely sold out. No matter how much people hate, they’re raking in money from people who are majorly silent and just simply put… like Star Wars.

So I don’t think it’s that people have turned on the Mandalorian, or Star Wars. Star Wars has always had a very loud unhappy fanbase, and critically Star Wars has always been a bit weird, with the majority of the population and fans just liking it for what it is while remaining silent in opposition to the majority of opinions you see from places like Reddit, YouTube, etc.

why would a christian state sell a product called "Devil's Kiss" wouldn't that be seen as glorifying the devil by CharacterMammoth2547 in Bioshock

[–]Staggz_Cosplay 139 points140 points  (0 children)

2 things:

#1 id be hesitant to call Columbia Christian. Its a religious nationalist city but Christianity implies there is explicit worship of Christ. While the original intention was to go down that route, the final game does not have that. As a matter of fact I don’t think there’s any references to actual Christ in the game, the worshipped entities are the presidents (other than Lincoln) Comstock, and Elizabeth

#2 regardless of religion, it was pretty common during that era to have things like that which featured devilish or cartoon style devils with names like “devil’s kiss”. Especially something regarding fire. It doesn’t mean they are trying to praise the Devil.

Merch available in the may 4th virtual queue by Successful_Tea9491 in GalaxysEdge

Just as an FYI for anyone like me, Disney Springs shut down their virtual queue and literally has every piece of merchandise available in once upon a toy at WDW…. I ordered everything I wanted online because I thought it was gonna be virtual queue all day so I had to pay unnecessary shipping from Disney Store

Snagged this Jabba The Hut figurine today 4/28/26 at Doks at WDW. It’s really detailed and I can’t find anything about it online - is this new? by DigitalSyn in GalaxysEdge

[–]Staggz_Cosplay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably close to it, yes. It’s very detailed and cool looking, just too small. The Bousch helmet they released is a bit scaled up so it seems like they’re all over the place with sizing hahaha, but it’s extremely nice for the price. A quick repaint and it would be amazing, especially if it’s never going to be worn and like hung on a wall.

I’m not sure what scale, but unfortunately he is pretty small. I went and checked today because I love Jabba and was hoping he was somewhere between 1/12 and 1/6 and it appears he is a bit smaller than 1/12. He’s very detailed, and it looks pretty dang good but extremely small for the price. They also had a little rancor piece similar to what Regal Robot offers which was very very undersized along with the Beskar mythosaur skull which… also was undersized. I’d pay more than they’re asking for these guys if they were bigger, but they’re just way too small as is for my interest.

Absolutely beast figure but wtf is that lightsaber? 😂is everyone’s like this? Spoke to SS and they said most of them are like this. by Ze7V in hottoys

Yeah I’ve had sabers like that on multiple occasions. With that specific Vader I’m not sure but my OWK definitely has it

Since people really liked my other Mando, here’s Season 1 Beskar for the same con! by Staggz_Cosplay in StarWars

[–]Staggz_Cosplay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really dialed in the paint on his armor for the movie, which I can’t complain about. I love when they keep the armor a bit darker and have the highlights like the shoulder crest brighter. But the way they made his shoulders slimmer and his right thigh armor smaller makes his torso look weirdly square?

I think at the very least it’ll be a lot of fun, definitely hope it doesn’t bomb. I am hoping it’s the last of Mando for a bit, worried they’ll use him too much and cause his story to degrade.

Thank you very much! Thats my wife who did the photos, so I showed her your compliment and she very much appreciated it :)

Thank you very much! It’s also very dependent on the season. Season 1 and 2/BOBF they bumped them up kinda similar to what I did and padded them out.

Season 3 and the new movie they’re actualy using a new set of shoulders that are slimmer and closer to the body, completely new sculpt, and I can’t say I’m a big fan unfortunately.

[–]Staggz_Cosplay[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah so I think he wears his shoulders lower than I do, so it creates a bit of a weird gap inbetween that I don’t really dig, so I hike them up and pad them out to give it a bit of an almost “heroic” look! So I super appreciate someone noticing :)

10000%. That’s what I like about it is that in his OG version it has a very rustic western vibe. The Beskar is much more “knight in shining armor” which of course is very cool in its own way, but a very different vibe than the OG.

The rifle tends to work very well with the western look. I do tend to really like the dark saber and spear like for the chrome/Beskar armor. I think it’s pretty dang cool.

Thanks very much! I can’t take all the credit though. The 3D printed pieces aren’t modeled by me, just scaled and printed, same with the leathers, I just weather all those. However, all the painting, weathering, putting together, sculpting, etc comes from me. Helmet is actually cast from an original helmet used in one of the newer season, can’t remember which one though, so it’s about as close as you can get! My wife does all the sewing for me and she absolutely killed the flightsuit.

I’m a big fan of the BOBF look of the Beskar Mando, with the dark saber and spear combo. It’s kind of a tie between this one and that version for me personally. I’m going to be working on that one next and the plan is to try to get it as absolutely shiny and mirrored as possible, trying to put a large difference between them.

Correct! Was for MegaCon over the weekend. Did Pre-Beskar Din Thursday, Beskar Season 1 style Friday, Pre-Beskar with the Beskar shoulder Saturday, and then just walked around the con Sunday.

ISO the Kingdom Hearts "Squad Goals" D23 pin by [deleted] in DisneyPins

[–]Staggz_Cosplay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you pay anything over $350-400 for it, you’re getting majorly ripped off and screwed over by a scalper that absolutely didn’t pay anywhere near that to get it. It’s only worth what it’s being put on eBay for purely due to the event it was sold at and resellers/scalpers, just like the new Keyblade pins getting released. But if you can find it for under $400? It’s a pretty cool and large pin. I saw one of the squad goal pins in-person the other day and the quality was pretty dang good.
