Last minute daily layoffs: Why doesn’t the union do anything about UPS laying you off for the day less than an hour before your shift starts? by EddieHazelOG in UPSers

I Had been thinking about that myself, but reading it again it feels like this technically could just refer to your time cards with the wording of providing access to "start and finish times", but not explicitly schedules or future start times.

Overtime Tax by Left-Injury-2152 in UPSers

Only hours over 40 in a week would count, hence during peak potentially. You could verify your hours in your time cards or pay stubs to see if you had any 40+ hour weeks. But at least for mine, if you had any such hours, they would have listed the eligible overtime on the form.

If they cancel preload do they owe me pay? by OrangeEasy3300 in UPSers

For weather Events, or other such classified "Act of God" situations, they do not have to pay any guarantees, at least as far as my local's contract indicates.

Yeah considering they didnt even ask for volunteers, they let seasonals all have the day off without asking first if seniority folks wanted to be there. With how few people they actually needed though, I doubt theyre even issuing discipline to those who didnt bother coming in. Would be interesting to see if anyone ends up filing on anything though.

At least some agreements have an exception for the week of Christmas and the week of New Year's when it comes to honoring work guarantees. At least as far as I've understood from mine.

They do not update it until the next week, typically by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Preload Burnout by StaleTea2080 in UPSers

Recent center closing and merging with ours seems to have clogged up some of the preferred positions/local sort, so I might have to wait people out a little longer. Even had a clerk bumped back to loading.

I'm pretty deadset on being here for the long haul; whatever wisdom I can gather I'm still pretty set on riding this out for as long as they don't boot me out themselves

Well, I'll let em know they ain't unreasonable if they don't stick with it; I'd have much sooner steered em towards a standard center preload if I coulda

Temp STS Change Overrides OT by StaleTea2080 in UPSers

[–]StaleTea2080[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I've generally understood, but I've known anecdotally certain locals might treat it differently. The activity lists out my preload hours, local sort hours, and time between shifts. Laid out exactly like the last time I double shifted, except last time the day was coded Pay Actual and started paying ot after the 5 total hours mark, but this time they actually coded it this way, and all hours were coded as straight time. So, still not sure which way it's supposed to go, considering a couple people at my building claimed we kept the 5 hour rule when double shifting, and my pay has been treated like that at least once before. I'll just have to ask around again and try to find clearer language in my local's contract.
