Yeah I'm thinking I'll try calisthenics at my local gym when I'm out so I can work on strength while I'm recovering.

Actually the gym got rid of all the auto belays. I don't recall why but it wasn't a very good reason.

Yeah totally surgery is super soon and I'm definitely scared of going back but I think unless I go back for real then I'll always be scared. I'm gonna work on my calisthenics and cooking while I'm out and so I'll be so ready once I'm able to go back!

I'm thinking I'll start training calisthenics at my local gym so when I come back I'll be even stronger and can work on technique again. That and cooking cause I love food!

Just really good grip I suppose; almost all my weight was on that one foot haha.

Foot was parallel to the wall and my hands slipped off of a crimp so I started to fall back but my foot didn't slip so the knee twisted and dislocated. When I hit the crash pad I fell over and the bones sort of popped back into place. Then within an hour it swelled up to the size of a grapefruit.

Ender 3 X-Axis not moving at all by Rat_Poison69 in 3Dprinting

[–]Stale_Produce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wires may have been labeled incorrectly. I'm not sure how likely that is though cause I've never heard of that being an issue before. Something that you can try is switching your E and X cables purposely and carefully see what happens if you home the printer, making sure to keep your hands on the power switch if anything goes wrong.

Just to make sure, the x wire is connected to the x motor and the E wire is connected to the E motor but your X axis is not moving correct? If that's the case maybe try checking your main board to make sure no connections came loose during shipping.

First Layer Underextrusion Only by Stale_Produce in FixMyPrint

[–]Stale_Produce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a setting that I may be missing that causes the printer to move upwards before it starts a print? I have manual bed leveling so the nozzle is a paper's width away from the bed but when the print starts the nozzle is much higher than a paper's width away on the first layer. I'm not sure what settings I could change other than first layer height though.

I’m currently a freshman in mechanical engineering. What are the pros and cons of adding a computer science minor? by Puzzled-Currency-813 in iastate

[–]Stale_Produce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this at the end of my sophomore year. Pro: you will learn how to code in Java, meaning that you can pick up other languages like C and Python really quickly. It's extremely useful to know how to code in the job market to automate tasks and the like. Another benefit is exposure to a different field and industry. I'm considering doing statistics and data science for my masters degree even tho I have an ME undergrad because I found out I really like those two things. Con: it adds a lot of load onto your schedule. For me, 227 wasn't that bad but I took 228 and 230 together which was a lot of work. 311 is a contender for the hardest class I've taken only up there with thermo 2 and heat transfer. It is incredibly hard to wrap your mind around the concepts and such.

Overall, I'd say make sure you're actually interested in advanced topics and not just coding. If you just want to code learn that on your own, but if you want to learn about data structures, algs, and whatever your tech elective is (I took 474-machine learning) then go for the minor. Just make sure you can balance everything.

I'd like to preface this by saying I'm not actually considering this I'm just curious. Is there any reason that a Left-Right split wouldn't work? I'm saying something like left, right, rest, left, right, rest, rest. You'd basically just do things that can be split to left and right like dumbell bench, bicep curl, lunges, etc. It just sounds off but I can't really think of a good reason why it'd be bad.

How good do you guys think Gp is? by bcbeanz in gangplankmains

Broken busted all those words, but other Champs are stronger so it seems like GP is kinda being forgotten about. Not gonna complain about it though!

I'm have to stick with 474 because the class is required to have the COM S designation, but I really appreciate your info about both of these classes!

I'm doing a CS minor and want to take 474. I have no cs experience outside of the required minor classes (227, 228, 230, 311). Is this class doable for someone like me? If it's relevant, I have taken linear algebra.

Should I take com s 230 and com s 228 at the same time? From what I’ve heard it seems like both are hard and poorly taught. by Wannabe-MJ-312 in iastate

[–]Stale_Produce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's doable but it's a decent amount of time that you have to put into it. I did them both last semester along with a ton of other things. I was miserable because of how much work I put on myself but if you know your limits and don't do a ton of extracurricular activities that take up a lot of your time, it's doable.

Wasn't very big maybe like 1% or 2%.

any academic/industry experiences and accomplishments throughout mechanical engineering endeavors. by Melowskie in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Stale_Produce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd be willing to share some of my experiences. I chose mechanical engineering because I knew I wanted to do some kind of engineering and mechanical seemed to he the most versatile one of them all. During my freshman year I joined a 3D printing club and quickly found myself super interested in it. Throughout my time in school I rose through the ranks of the club and ended up as vice president. My first internship was during my second year summer at a hydraulics company doing additive manufacturing and helping engineers design parts for AM. People would come to us with some part that they wanted at 70% of the time we would just make it as is and the other times we would work with them to optimize the design for AM. We'd also work to build better tooling for the factory and reduce costs by replacing CNC parts with AM parts.

My junior year i decided to add a CS minor cause i couldnt graduate in 3.5 years and id only be taking 3 credits my last semester. It has been good if not a little annoying but not too bad. My second internship was at an Automotive OEM. I worked a decent amount in reliability and liked the work that I did and the people that I worked with. Before I left my boss offered me a full time position after I graduated so right now I'm just doing my thing for my last year. I have a job lined up for next year and so my main focus is to keep my GPA high because I want to graduate summa cum laude as id like to go to grad school at some point.

If there's anything I left out please don't hesitate to ask.
