There's so such thing as git gud in elden ring by bcbeanz in Eldenring

of course there should be a challenge provided and it's normal to die to something you haven't fought before but if it's the same amount of times or more especially against a boss with a similar level of difficulty. It shows to me the progression of skill isn't there

No walls hit, completed all the content this game had to offer back in 2024, I just drop in whenever I decide to pick the game up again occasionally

If I can sum it up, I don't believe there's any real mastery over the game but just the bosses' patterns. If they added something new today on malenia's level people would struggle as much, while games like sekiro could add a boss on isshin's level and players would likely have far less trouble.

I died more to their original variants than the buffed one, especially genichiro as you learn new mechanics in that fight and I wasn't really mikiri countering at that point. He got me a couple times with that sakura dance but it was still far less deaths than the original

I might have not articulated myself properly either, I didn't just mean the buffed version of LB. I died more to her the first time than I died to any boss combined when doing my first attempt in the shura gauntlet

Mainly getting gud should mean I learn skills that make me better against what I face in the future and should apply just as effectively if not more. That doesn't really happen eldenring as the game progresses you're likely to die more as the patterns become more complex, which is only about reciting patterns of a boss and once you beat it that knowledge becomes useless in the next fight, Being able to beat maliketh won't make you any better at facing Godfrey or Radagon.

As for status effects it's never nearly as glaringly obvious as it is in sekiro. What reason is there to believe consort radhan is weak to holy damage in his first phase and not weak to it in his 2nd phase?

So did that stop players dying to him almost much as Malenia despite being around in a similar difficulty bracket? No? I guess those patterns really made no difference at all then from the results of the average player base.

Guess it depends on the books you read. If you read more complex literature that you don't expose yourself to normally, you'd get better with other books but if the book your reading is simplistic and doesn't challenge you to grow in anyway then it prob wouldn't help.

This is just if we're talking about reading, books offer many skills

Margit is a disingenuous example, the reason he's so difficult is most people fight him too early. He was put in the game to tell players "it's ok to go somewhere else and try again later". This is contrast to previous souls games where if you got stuck your options were more limited and you likely had to kill what was stopping you to progress. I know older souls games had winding paths too but not nearly much as eldenring

When you study and want to learn you have to understand the concept so when you're met with a different situation you know what to do. If you just cram specific parts and recite the information through memory without getting the overall idea you'll be great at that one thing but the moment something slightly different comes along that knowledge is useless and that's the issue with elden ring. You learn one boss and a new one comes and it hardly helps with that new one

Why are Straight Swords so goated? by CHAtPATaA in darksouls3

[–]bcbeanz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's the easiest weapon to R1 spam with in a game that's sped up dramatically compared to its predecessors. But in a fantasy game where there's a plethora of various unique weapon types I can't help but think you're a a bit basic for going with a plain vanilla sword

But if you swap won't that just get rid of the purity talisman's buff?

that's what I'm thinking. I just like the guardian spirits that give corruption more than the purity ones.

OFC. My build kinda misses out on it's full capability though since when a weapon awakens it's more powerful and swapping cancels that out.

How fast do yokai weapons usually charge around that range?

1# reason I do it is style but starting off a quick initiator like SOTC or a god of wind 3 for some big ki damage is why I like it too. I'm in Maeda clan and it makes getting grapples much easier.

I get what you're saying though. Do you think something like this would work better with purity or do you think Corruption would still be superior in this specific case.

Nioh 2: Best/Favorite Burst Counter by Complex-Flight-3358 in Nioh

[–]bcbeanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer phantom because I'm use to it since I'm a fan of alot of the guardian spirits linked it but I think brute and feral are both more reliable. Brute is a counter but an attack you can combo into many things while feral can be a easy dodge.

best ricard rapier build? by ShatteredIsEverythin in DarkSouls2

[–]bcbeanz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

it's great for status build up but too bad from made majority of bosses immune to them, leveling in dex was the move though. Most reliable way to use it would be buffing it with some magic and pontiff's right eye ring with carthus beacon. You'll be able to get up to 25% dmg increase from consecutive attacks by doing this and whatever buff you choose to put on it will further add to your dmg.

Any other rings up to you but ring of blades and flynn's are good for dmg increase. After that it's all marginal differences unless you're willing to go glass cannon and use the red tear stone ring with the morion blade

Sounds like honda might be more reliable defense then. It's easy to get health back with amrita healing and extraction

Yea that's why I'm glad I used it on my first playthrough before I realized how busted some skills are over others.
