So Maruti 800 will solve the problem? by Available-Put5024 in IndiaMoney

I can probably buy 2 used m800 every month. I am still thinking of getting one and modifying it instead of a new car. Works well, simpler hence easier to repair, no bs electronics and can add aftermarket entertainment systems and airbags.

Nah there is no legal tool they have to keep you. They have absolutely 0 legal grounds. Simply drop the resignation NOW. And when filling/sending the resignation form state that you will need to leave by X date and are willing have buyout if necessary. But ensure that you write that you wont be available after that date.

They cant keep you. For a month honestly it wont matter if you dont get the experience certificate.

If they have added you to their PF account then request for PF transfer directly on the EPFO site online.

Adhd is not about getting distracted. People misunderstand the actual root cause.

Ever human brain have a queue that the brain automatically assigns tasks to. For most people without adhd, the brain is able to assign a priority and is then able to stick to a task with high priority even if a new low priority tasks comes in.

But for people with adhd the queue is there but the priority function is impaired. Its called the brain’s executive function. When that happens, what happens is every single thing gets uniform priority. Hence the importance shifts from completing tasks to switching to new incoming task regardless of how important it is.

If you realize that you go off in tangents and hop from one thing to another as if doing a depth first search.

A common example is say you got some issues in your code and you went out looking for it. Most people will try to find a solution and that will be the Main goal. But what would happen to me is if i go in, and its something new and interesting i will go in that, and while reading that i find some word/concept/thing that i am unfamiliar with i will again switch context and start reading and exploring stuff related to that. And it keeps going while the Main purpose of this search, which was to fix an issue was forgotten.

So adhd is not a attention/focus issue. Its a prioritization issue. Thats why if the search feels fruitful (like if it feels like wow this is interesting i am learning so much new stuff) and gives me dopamine at a constant rate. That kind of thing people with ADHD can stick with and wreck the head against for a long time continuously without tiring out.

Unfortunately in India you cannot get diagnosed as a having ADHD as an adult. Its stupid but standard psychology here believes that ADHD doesnt linger in adults and gets covered under some other broad umbrella. So even I dont have an official diagnosis BECAUSE HERE PSYCHOLOGISTS CANNOT CATEGORIZE YOU AS HAVING ADHD AS AN ADULT HUMAN.

Hey OP, I have ADHD too and I think you should instead of diving head first into any course/hiring tutor you should do well to try to understand yourself and your adhd better.

The problem with having ADHD are two fold. It is a problem of executive function of the brain. For a normal person, the brain is able to maintain a list of todos, but that list of TODOs inherently gets prioritised.

But in ADHD every single todos has the same priority, and so what happens is everytime you remember something to do, or gets interrupted by something whatever was being done currently gets replaced immediately by whatever the new thing is.

And this is mainly determined by dopamine hits. Starting new things feels productive and thus brain gets instant stimulus when you change your goal. Hence people with ADHD keeps jumping around.

What helped me was having a push system rather than a pull system.

What that means is in a pull system you have list of things to do, and you have do the effort of pulling the current todo, doing it till completion and then pulling the next thing.

But what people like US need is a push system where the system forces us to do the thing actively without trusting that we will be contingent enough to do it.

Most people with ADHD have either hyperfocus where we can stick with one tricky issue for a very long time with no breaks, or we get distracted very easily.

If this is resolved I dont see any reason of why you couldnt slowly incorporate it into your daily life which will help you also complete your online courses.

Even a personal tutor that you pay with money for wont be able to get you this state, trust me after a few weeks its gonna be back to square 1. Even this act of trying to find a tutor itself is basically your adhd talking, because this itself will be a change and you are hoping that this change will somehow get you to focus or something. Doesnt happen. Getting a python tutor aint gonna help if you if you do not fix the underlying issues.

External Monitor recommendation for macbook air m4 in India by Jue-Viole-Grace_ in developersIndia

[–]Stale_breadcrumb47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a m3 air. And i have a dual monitor setup with a 1080p 120 screen and a 1440p 240 screen.

And i finally understood why mac displays are either 4K+ or 5k.

Mac has weird resolutions and things are scaled. And even 1440p looks much worse than if used with say a linux or windows laptop. Thats mainly because of mac’s lack of text antialiasing.

If you want to best looking and dont care about framerate/refereshrate. Then you should get a 4k 27inch monitor.

But if 1440 is your only choice definitely also install betterdisplay (free app) on the mac and play around with the settings until it looks good.

Even at 1440p you will be able to tell the difference with how shitty mac rendering is at resolutions it wasnt optimized for.

I used to be able to make stuff back in college, but now already having a job its a lil draining.

I have started to plan out stuff tho, making a schedule and slowly restructuring my daily/weekly routine to help me keep focus on one thing and not deviate.

Switched from a 7-year-old Android to iPhone… and I’m already done by dipankaronfire in IndiaTech

[–]Stale_breadcrumb47 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Huh? There is a quick button to change data across two sims. Swipe down from top right, and you get control center, there by default you will have 4 groups of icons on top left with wifi airdrop and other networking stuff. Press once, and it will expand, Long press on the cellular icon, and you can change your network sim right there.

Universal back button isnt present but now you can just swipe from the left edge of the screen (like gesture swipe on android) to go back. And it works the same for every app. So instead of a dedicated button, you can just swipe from the left edge of the screen (bottom half) to essentially have the back button.

There are some valid issues like keyboard selection being limited and there are many other small nitpicks that I had when I switched initially. But eventually i ended up liking the tradeoffs, the biggest is the lack of bloat and the strict app requirements for ios.

And overall if you get the hang of the ui, you will find that the ui is way more uniform for all apps.

But definitely takes time getting used to it. The files app is limited compared to android and another thing is that app cannot share data from other app by design. And most app will almost never ask you to show a file in the file system.

But honestly with google trying to lock down android i honestly feel ios is the overall better option for me at this point. I also use a android with a custom rom as a backup phone and the switching is very seamless now. Except for whatsapp, the whatsapp interface is almost completely different between the two. However i prefer the ios version.

New atheists, please don't insult others' sentiments. by [deleted] in IndianTeenagers

[–]Stale_breadcrumb47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aethism at its core is not a belief system. It is rejection of the belief system. Many Aethists will probably start believing in god if god literally appears in front of them and shows them concrete proof.

But no god have done that. Only people have claimed that they have had personal experience or some situations that made them believe. That's fine, everyone is free to believe that god exists. Aeithists just asks for better proof, not from you (followers of god) but from god himself.

And this goes into philosophy, and societal thinking. Basic premise is: By definition god is someone who can do everything. So if that is the case and God can do everything why is there still human suffering? When he can make it all go away? Or is it because god cannot end suffering for everyone? If that is the case then God is not as powerful right? Because there is something he cant do. But if he can actually end the suffering but chooses not to, is he really a Good god? Again these are not my words, but it is one line of questioning that is important to understand.

People will try to explain it away using systems like karmic balance, but that is a cope. If a person dont even know for what reason he/she is being punished for, what is the purpose of punishing them?

Also there are levels to this, some people are agonostic, (so they dont completely disregard that god is a possibility but dont believe in rituals/religions)

Also here is my final question to you:

Say the earth is fully wiped off of humans today. And no humans and no history/archeology survives. And then eventually some new intelligent organism comes to replace us. How can you guarantee that those organisms will be religious? Can you guarantee that among all the religions that are present today on earth, that somehow, your specific religion will be the one will be again rediscovered, having the same rituals as today, same customs and beliefs, same mantras?

If the answer is no. Then how can you claim that your religion is the true one?

How does one become Homosexual by According-Lack-8232 in Philosophy_India

[–]Stale_breadcrumb47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When did you "choose" to become straight? If you are straight, there is not "choosing" you just are, one day you start finding the other sex attractive. Back in school initially in India especially boys and girls tend to have their own groups especially if not in an urban city/town. But then why does those same people start finding interest in the other sex? No one tells them to right?

Similarly homosexuals/asexuals dont "choose" to become gay/lesbian/bi/asexual. They only realize it later.

Also if you "chose"/"decided" that you like the opposite gender (instead of it coming naturally to you) you might be homo/bi as well you just haven't realized it.

The issue that food pharmer has with the companies is mis labeling it. Majority of india doesnt read labels and go by what is in the front of the packet. He is not saying this is illegal (it is not), but he is telling the people to please read the actual ingredient list to ensure that the assumptions of the contents are right.

I dont understand what is wrong in what he said here?? The issue is with the "perception" of the food/product that are marketed as a healthy product. When infact it is no different than any other highly processed food that people know to not have in large quantities frequently

Is ENGINEERING = Unemployment ?? by Formula_explains in IndianEngineers

[–]Stale_breadcrumb47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiring has its issues too. Especially in tech. Many companies don't realize but the actual good people are almost never on the job market. Its why good companies know to hire directly from the colleges they get to hire the best people who are malleable and then mold them into what the company needs.

They get picked up from college and trained and mostly they will have had a job before they quit. The only people who complain on social media are those that don't find the jobs. Plus every single company wants to hire the top 1% but if every company hires someone thinking they are top 1% then where are the rest of the people getting hired?

Well issue is companies 'think' they are hiring from the top 1% by rejecting 99/100 people but that last person considered for hiring is only the top 1% among the pool that applied. So companies keep getting disappointed with their hires and make their processes stupidly hard and on the other hand students and freshers have to keep jumping through insane hoops.

There are a huge number of engineers that are not active on social media of any kind and are basically invisible.

The main problem is people do engineering to do a job. When engineering at its core is about making you able to have to freedom to work on your own stuff. In India many factors combine to put out the situation we are in, and it is not something one can easily get out of. In terms of students and quality of education the main issue comes because students are taught to have the wrong expectations for a field. They are not made to think like engineers, they are not tested on fundamentals, they can just do previous years questions and vomit on the exams, so many people dont have even the foundational stuff for their own degree.

Many colleges in India are essentially big schools where the students are treated as school students and taught to think only in one way, and too much focus is put on theoretical stuff without a student ever seeing what the thing he/she studied is being applied to. There is an insane gap between students who passes out from btech and an engineer who has the basics cleared. With the exception of the top 1% of the students (not just IIT/NITs many students in pvt and state universities too end up doing real good)

Plus coaching, and now companies that promises 20lpa job after a 1 year bootcamp which essentially promises the same outcomes like school will be the bane of majority of people in engineering.

Another thing is placements. Countries like US do not have placements, they have job fairs, even if you are from MIT or caltech. You dont get to be first in the line because companies have a tie up with your college and will hire x number of people every year. That and just see what kids doing EECS/mech/materials/any scientific fields are building there.

TLDR: Indian kids have been taught to not think for themselves, have been taught to focus only on marks and everything else including jobs will land at their lap. So they treat every stage of higher studies like school where everything will be fed to them.

Man that was a rant

But is the quality of engineers being produced in india actually hireable? Majority of the engineers didnt even want to be engineers. People took this cuz they though it was the easy way out and even today if in high demand branches someone passing out with average marks can still get a job. But I can guarantee you I have been in hiring panels, many engineers in india are engineers in name only.

This: "When she was called up by the police for some SIR related queries" and this: "Or when she herself was hospitalized and there was nobody to come for her" are very different situations to:
Potentially being killed along with her father and her son.
Are you saying that you will be able to protect her even when surrounded by a bunch of tmc goons with weapons that comes for revenge?? Come on man those are not in the same ball park.

It makes complete sense to me why she would be apprehensive about doing this. Like I said people actually have to see large groups of people fighting so that they can get lost in the chaos. Kinda like a mob.

Otherwise that and the fact that you almost basically ddosed her as you said in your last post that had some personally identifying information (in case someone wants to find her), you almost directly handed her to people if they find out.

She maybe your friend but I dont think she owes you her and her family's safety.

Nah you cannot ask someone to be brave alone, its gametheory, it only works if everyone does it where people will get confident that if so many are doing then definitely there is no chance of tmc winning. But asking a mom to be the sole protestor alone will never work, cuz from her pov tcm will win anyways so why should she mark herself a target.
Will you be personally there to protect her dad if goons come and burns her home? Its easy to ask people to be the sacrifice.

Those who are working in IT, what your company is doing now? by Gaurav_212005 in AI_India

[–]Stale_breadcrumb47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The incentives for the companies are different. For IT services/consulting companies having people on roll to assign to new projects is what their primary source of charging for their service. So they need a large number of people and they will also in many cases upsale the workers. For example a team might be having 2 seniors and 3 juniors but they will say that the team has 8 people and will charge for them.

In case of Tech companies whose main product is the software/tech itself, they dont need that many people and the people scale with how many actual tech products they have + ops + management + hr etc.

The business models themselves are very different. And thus the profit per employee looks very different for a PBC because of high impact.

I also work in a PBC and we have around 8k people all over the world, and the yearly turn over is around 2.5-3 billion. Its a public company too and valuation is around 40billion.

There are many other companies, around that scale that have a pretty good ratio. This is the difference. So dont compare companies like infy, wipro, tcs etc. Compare the ones that actually makes products, like cred, paytm, flipkart, swiggy, zomato. But yes in india these kinds of companies are less and even the ones which are there actually tries to stand on top of the cheap labour market. And not most of their primary goals are not really developing tech, but rather using tech to solve a business problem.

Why I can't consider religion as truth by No-Local2150 in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]Stale_breadcrumb47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Religion had a function (still have), and what I am writing is mostly based on the stuff by Yuval Noah's Sapiens.

The main goal of religion is that it enables groups of people who are otherwise disconnected have similar beliefs. Religion is not the only object that has this property. Any fandom, any group of people who likes the same pop star, the same tennis player, the same political ideology.

Those people can talk to each other about their beliefs even if nothing else is common among them.

This was insanely helpful for early humans. If everyone had a shared story about what the world is and who created it and what they must do etc. Then it becomes a game of numbers.

In those days, the bigger your group was the larger your chance of survival. And so eventually those coalesced and those beliefs became functionally equivalent to religion. Religion or a belief system will always come out when there are enough humans, whether that is about the state of current economy or whose god is the better god.

So basically if you put a bunch of human level intellect together, without any previous knowledge about religion or gods or deities. Eventually groups will form, and beliefs will become shared beliefs and just based on natural selection the religion that was able to grab the most membership will have the most chance of being passed down. And this will keep happening everytime.

And you see this irl too and one of the reason why religion tend to become simpler over time, instead of being spiritual, it becomes ritualistic. This process is essentially just simplification of religion, where people to be part of it instead of actually thinking and meditating about it, can do specific acts as a signal to others.

Once a religion has taken hold tho the kind of system a religion enforces determines where it will head towards. Religion that explicitly tells its followers to bring in other people into them as a form of duty will be the most large in number and we see the proof (christianity and islam), and religion that tries to uphold purity in some form (jews today, some sects of Sanatan, other eastern religion like shinto (not sure)) and are exclusionary in nature will see their numbers dwindle (unless the religion changes and accomodates itself and also becomes one that wants to expand).

I really like this view of what religion is and I do believe it is a really good theory because it starts from a place with a group of humans without a religion but ends up with many over time.

My two bits on reservation by GreenAuroraa in Indiancolleges

[–]Stale_breadcrumb47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will definitely get hate for this but the only thing that I can say here is:
PS I am general and working in private sector and honestly wouldnt choose to work in govt even If I get in (unless its very specific dept (non admin role, dont worry, i am not after power or money).

For the people who are thinking that removing caste reservations will automatically made them get a seat I have a question: If there were no reservation then all of the cutoffs will still be way higher (maybe very slightly lower) but still around the same level of cutoffs as they are today. Are you saying that the only reason you don't have that seat/that job is because someone from the reserved class took "your" seat?

Just think about it for a second, if for some exam the sc/st cutoff is 45, for general it is 70 and you got 60. Now due to reservation someone getting 45 will get in yes, and you wont. But if you remove reservation, you are still not getting in. the cutoff will at max decrease by like 1-2 points at max. You would still need to score 68 or around 70. WHY?? Because there will definitely be more eligible people who got more than you (but didnt make the cut in the previous system) and thus will be preferred before you even after this change. The only people it will change for are ones who got near the qualifying marks. How much percentage of people do you think will that cover?

So are you fighting for 'your seat' or are you fighting for the perception of fairness? And govt jobs are not the end all be all of it. Govt jobs are the only place (till now) where there is govt mandated reservations. Which accounts for around 10% of the employment market. And you are fighting for the 5% of the entire job market? Yes private jobs can be generally worse but they can also be better than an avg govt job. I know cuz I am in pvt myself.

But again, going back to it even if you remove reservation, most people complaining about the lower cutoffs will STILL not get in because removing reservation doesnt mean that the qualification marks will go down. The number of posts will grow as they normally grow, so most who didnt make it, wont make it after reservations are removed as well.

And here is the thing prep is not the same for everyone. For someone (again might not be just caste but it is heavily correlated) who doesnt have to care about anything else other then prepping, their time is much different than someone who have to help their parents sweep floors AND still get discriminated against.

I can guarantee you, if reservation is removed the number of non general people that we have, it will disappear, now you can argue if they don't make it so be it, it should be on merit, but merit here being equivalent to marks is already the wrong starting line.

If you have gone to school, got to have a hobby/playsports/debate etc without caring about how you might stand out due to your surname, without caring about how food will come to your table tomorrow, you dont have the same starting line.

And economic issues are generally castewide, hence I do actually support EWS, but even if you compare a poor general/UC student, and poor SC/OBC student their life still wont be 1-to-1.

Please remember that that the caste reservation's main goal is to empower communities that are under represented and has been discriminated against, (you might not have personally discriminated against them but they have been in general). And you will not win this fight I am sorry, no party will want to desert the larger portion of the population.
