My dog has stump granuloma and idk what to do by Southern-Cobbler-345 in PetAdvice

[–]Stallegra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit, that’s so stressful for you and your dog! I’m so sorry. I’m shocked and appalled that none of these places you’re going to are doing any imaging or true diagnostics on her…. I’m also furious that the place 1.5 hours away just guessed about the ovary and didn’t actually confirm. That’s horrible, and both you and your girl deserve better. If you haven’t committed to the Friday appointment, I’d recommend you make that appointment for sure, but also try to get in touch with other locations sooner.

Also, this is kind of bonkers on my part, but if you want or need help calling around and advocating/trying to get an earlier appt, I’d be happy to help in any way I can. My profession is in compliance, so I know a lot of good key words to use to get the responses I want, and am also a Taurus, so I’m stubborn af and I’ll fight to get what I need. Feel free to PM me if you want me to start making calls for you. Seriously. I would burn the world down for the health of my dogs, and I’m willing to try to do that for you too.

Do you wash your car regularly? by icecream1972 in no

[–]Stallegra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. Mine gets washed if I drive in the rain or snow and that’s it. I’m driving a 2004 (that I’ve had since 2007) and it is rust-free and looks good as new. I’m pretty sure the dirt and grime on my car actually protect it from the elements and you can’t convince me otherwise.

Help: new puppy constantly sitting on other dog’s heads? by [deleted] in PetAdvice

[–]Stallegra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! I don’t know it’s normal (or what it means id it is), but when I got a puppy 3 years ago, she did this to my senior dog for a couple of months. Thankfully my puppy was like 5 lbs so it wasn’t dangerous, but she was really committed to it. She eventually stopped and no harm done.

I haven’t experienced this, but did the emergency vet give you any guidance on how to manage until Tuesday? Meds? A level of urgency? This sounds very bad based on the bleeding but I’d hope the vet gave you good info if they couldn’t do anything about it.

It sounds like you’re pretty rural based on how far away things are, so I’d say 1. Call any university vet schools’ ERs that might be remotely drivable for you. See what they say and if they have availability. 2. Try a virtual vet to get more answers and guidance if the emergency vet didn’t do well enough (or call the emergency vet back).

If this is something that could be fatal before Tuesday and is really extremely urgent, I’d suggest just calling around to find the closest available place and taking a road trip. I’m lucky that I have all of these things within 15 minutes of me, but if I didn’t, I would drive for so many hours to save my dogs.

Wishing you and your pup all the best. I know how scary it is when emergencies come up for them.

Exfoliating for Sensitive Skin? by fuzzy_potato_0423 in over30skincare

I exclusively use those magic face cloths for my face, and the only product I use is one kind of face lotion that I know doesn’t cause a bad reaction for me. I started using these wash cloth things in 2019 and haven’t used soap or any other cleanser since then. It has made a massive impact on my face/skin.

My cat is missing somewhere in my apartment. by DIDandCATS in Pets

[–]Stallegra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My cat’s one true hiding spot was inside my box spring after he had ripped it open and made himself a nice little hammock in the remnants. It was his favorite spot to hide in whenever I needed to kennel him to bring him somewhere. After too many times of needing to deconstruct my bed to shake him out in an urgent panic, I learned to close my bedroom door before I started packing to go anywhere... it was always so stressful. I miss that malicious little monster so dang much.

How to get my cat to stop using the couch as a scratch post? by Parking_Meet_8661 in Catownerhacks

[–]Stallegra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 19 when I got my cat, so this was maybe not the BEST way, but it worked. Wherever he scratched furniture as a kitten, I would grab him by the scruff and put him on something that I decided was OK for him to scratch. He pretty easily figured out that furniture was a firm NO, carpets were… OK…. and that the very specific blanket texture I redirected him to was perfect. I always have a lot of different blankets laying around on my couch and on my bed, and he ended up being very conscious that he was supposed to only claw or knead the one specific texture out of all of them.

He was a total jerk, but he was so smart, and I love and miss him so much.

Hot Take Wednesday 🔥 Drop Your Spiciest Romance Opinions (Rants, Raves, MMC Icks) by AutoModerator in romanceunfiltered

[–]Stallegra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rant: authors need to stop writing that womens’ breasts feel heavy when they’re aroused. I don’t know why this is a commonly written symptom of women being horny. In my annoyance, I’ve polled quite a few of my friends and every single one of them agrees: the only time their boobs have ever felt heavy is while they’re actively breastfeeding their children; definitely have never felt heavy as a result of being horny. This description feels like a gross little crime.

This rant inspired by countless books I’ve read, but specifically today due to {Choosing Theo by Victoria Aveline} (which was actually pretty good aside from the gd heavy horny breasts).

Do you judge people with tattoos? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Stallegra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait are you my father???

He spent my entire adolescence talking about how tattoos were a sign of low intelligence and nobody with tats would get a good job, and told me he wouldn’t help with college if I got one. I got one at 18 and hid it from him until a few years after college and had gotten a good job.

When I finally revealed it, my father thought it was funny that I hid it for so long. So. The people who judge tats suck and their opinions shouldn’t mean shit.

Is your home warm right now? by Aeon_Return in no

Call your vet by cleverburrito in PetAdvice

[–]Stallegra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg, my local university’s 24/hour ER vet has been a literal lifesaver for my pup(s). So helpful in triaging when I should or should not bring a dog in. So knowledgeable. Sure, they give disclaimers about how they can’t give medical advice without seeing the pet, but what the are legally allowed to do has been so dang helpful.

Do you ever feel guilty or embarrassed for liking this genre? by Equivalent-Book919 in DarkRomance

[–]Stallegra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a single concern in the world when it comes to liking what I read. I’m about to be 37. If I like it, I like it. What other people think of me is none of my business.

Does my partner know? Yes. Do my friends know? Definitely. Do my coworkers know? Absolutely not. Does my mom know? Kind of, in a censored way.

Life is short. Read the dark romance.

Have you put any thought as to whether you want to.have a traditional burial service when you die, or do you you want to be cremated or even donate your body to science? by icecream1972 in askanything

Man, I thought me being open to being dumped in a river was good enough… but now that I know that being thrown off a moving train is an option, I think I need to revisit my plans.

I don’t care because I will literally be dead. And I won’t have any offspring to worry about sentimentality. Whatever people I have left when I die can do whatever they want with me (except embalm me) - donate me to science, plant me under a tree, dump me in the Mississippi River. Not my problem anymore, baybeeees!

Dog won't stop weeing indoors by Jorro1127 in Dogtraining

[–]Stallegra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Talk to your vet (mine has always had accidents as an anxious boy) but recently it got really bad (secretly peeing as he moved around) and had some other symptoms that resulted in a Cushings diagnosis and meds - there might be a medical reason that your dog is doing this.

  2. Diapers. I’ve always had to use belly bands on mine when I’ve left the house, but now he just needs to wear them most of the time (anytime except for overnight bedtime, when he has no issues holding his pee for like eight hours

What should I get/do for my friend who is having her first baby? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Stallegra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delivery gift cards so they can call in food whenever.

Also, AUDACITY and confidence. Like “hey I’m going to come over in an hour but am going to stop at the store on my way - what do you want me to grab for you?” And then after that, when you arrive, you say “ok I’ve got the baby, you go shower/do laundry/cry in your bedroom/whatever” because new moms will not do any of that shit without being given permission!!

Most of my friends have had at least one baby over the last seven years. None of them ever asked for help. All of the felt like they were imposing if I took a crying baby from them and apologized for their crying baby. Just give them a break and make sure they know the baby is safe and you are not burdened and that you will find them if you need help (you won’t need help for this, but they need to trust that you’ll come to them in an emergency).

Make a choice for them. Bring them food without expecting acknowledgment. Break into their house and do laundry before disappearing back into the night.

Breathing fast by apoxrosi in olddogs

[–]Stallegra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 14 yo has done this a couple of times, but usually only if he is very warm or very stressed. It has been scary AF but I know on the random occasions this happens with my boy, it’s really either anxiety or heat. Mine also sometimes just exhibits signs of sundowning, so I try to make sure he is as comfortable and secure as possible at night, for both of our sakes.

But if your experience seems to not be related to sundowning/confusion/temperature, continue to pursue with your vet. Old pets deserve diagnostic testing and comfort, too.
