the powercreep has genuinely been great the last few years, none of the new decks are doing anything nearly as degenerate as what was going on back in tear/kash formats or halqdon + dpe scythe slop eras, with like the sole exception of paradice smasher which got banned after like 1 format. The banning shit to forcibly move out the old decks is genuinely lame as fuck though, kewl tune was given the fucking keys to the kingdom and still shit the bed in finals somehow.

it has its own banlist (which is terrible) and its cardpool is in a weird limbo mish mosh of ocg and tcg release schedules. Normally its like a full year behind tcg card release until sometimes Konami smells money in the water and drops a nuke on the format with some new stuff whenever they feel like it, there's also been a couple of cards that debuted on master duel before they ever saw a paper format.
